Roman Polanski has been accused of molesting a woman when she was 10 years old. Marianne Barnard first came forward with her story on Twitter as the Harvey Weinstein scandal unfolded, and now the California-based artist has elaborated on her claims to the Sun: “#RomanPolanski took photos of me naked & in fur coat on beach in Malibu, I was 10 yrs old. He went on from there. This ends now #ROSEARMY,” she wrote.Barnard says her mother took her to meet Polanski in 1975. “There was a group of rocks there and he took the photographs of me on those rocks,” she recalls. “At first I had the understanding I was just going to the beach with my mom. We were there for a little while by ourselves and then he was there. And she explained that this man wanted to take pictures of me in this fur coat. I thought it was to go into a magazine or something.” Polanski pled guilty to statutory rape in 1977 and, after serving 42 days behind bars, was ready to accept a plea bargain that would have freed him from prison. He was then alerted that the judge in his case didn’t plan to accept the agreement, and fled the country. He has not returned the United States since. “First he was taking pictures of me in the bikini, then it was with the coat then he said take off the bikini top, which I was comfortable with as I was only 10 and I often ran around with no top on,” Barnard continues. “But then he wanted me to take my bikini bottoms off — I started to feel very uncomfortable. Then at some point I realized my mom had gone. I don’t know where she went and I didn’t really register her leaving but she was no longer there. Then he molested me.” Barnard decided to come forward with her story after seeing other women speak out about their experiences with Harvey Weinstein. “I felt terribly conflicted that I have been silent all this time and all these women are bravely coming forward and I thought to myself I can’t in good conscious knowing what I know — and having gone through what I’ve gone through — not speak out.” Read her full account here.
http://www.indiewire.com/2017/10/roman-polanski-marianne-barnard-molestation-1201889717/ Seems like everyone forgot about Roman Polanski, and even defended him when he escaped America.
Didn't Weinstein support dropping the rape charges against Polanski? Anywho, yeah, not a surprise. The guy who raped a girl did other awful shit? A shocker. Hope something is ultimately some about all this.
A lot of movie stars do, for some fucking reason.
Well we hear about it more often because movie stars are famous.
For some reason I thought this was already dealt with in the past. Stuff like this really makes it difficult to explain to people why I think Rosemary's Baby still holds up as one of the best horror films ever. For some it's hard to separate art from the artist.
Say what you will about separating art from the artist but I do think it's sickening that a guy that's basically an open, offending pedophile that has completely escaped any retribution whatsoever is not only walking around free but still makes movies and still wins awards (I know rosemary's baby was released beforehand)
A lot of movie stars do, for some fucking reason.
Money. Lots of money can let you do some really stupid and fucked up shit.
It's sickening how brilliant minds can really be disgusting caricatures behind the scenes. I'm curious the link Scientology has in this, not to put any attention on those asshats.
I defended Polansky before because his original crime was highly exagerated and I generally believed that he had already paid enough for it, but if its true then it completely changes things
I wish he could serve a sentence and keep making films at the same time. Wasting such a great director's years away behind bars would be a shame, but he's gotta be made accountable for his crimes too.

It might be petty but there's no way I am supporting anything this person ever does in his life. There's a lot of crime you can pass on and justify because of need, desperation, etc, but any sex offense tells that you're a legitimate monster and I don't need that kinda shit in my life.
Reminder: Roman was unable to accept his 2003 Oscar for best director because of his crimes, but that didn't stop the Academy Awards from giving him a standing ovation: This is why people like the Weinsteins have been able to get away with their shit for so long. Hollywood is seriously diseased.

A whole racket unto itself, Hollywood has spent years perfecting the greatest acting job of all: Disguising the fact that they're no better than a Triad noodle-stand racket. A criminal web of lies just like all the rest, wearing a fancy suit to make you think they're worth a damn.

I don't want to justify their standing ovation, but they can't deny that he made some excellent films and on the whole, his story is kind of inspiring: a holocaust survivor expresses his own sorrows in a film that other people can experience. Some people just can't see a monster for what it is.

I'm not surprised at all by all the rape allegations coming out, not surprised at all about Weinstein. The only surprising thing is to see all the surprised people.
Who could've imagined.
