A five-year-old girl was fined £150 by a council for selling 50p cups of lemonade to festival goers.
The girl's father Andre Spicer said his daughter had set up the stall in Mile End, east London, while thousands of music fans were on their way to the Lovebox Festival at the weekend.

"But after a small time trading, four enforcement officers walked over from the other side of the road.
"I was quite shocked. I thought that they would just tell us to pack up and go home.
"But they turned on their mobile camera and began reading from a big script explaining that she did not have a trading licence.
"My daughter clung to me screaming 'Daddy, Daddy, I've done a bad thing.' She's five.
"We were then issued a fine of £150. We packed up and walked home."
A council spokesman said: "We are very sorry that this has happened. We expect our enforcement officers to show common sense and to use their powers sensibly.
"This clearly did not happen.
"The fine will be cancelled immediately and we have contacted Mr Spicer and his daughter to apologise."
this is pretty fucked up but omg the mental image of someone reading this off with a straight face to a literal child's lemonade stand is fucking hilarious
Oh god, this bit just makes me laugh.
"We are very sorry that this has happened. We expect our enforcement officers to show common sense and to use their powers sensibly.
Translation: We don't know why they were being such fucking idiots either.
Full statement:
We are very sorry that this has happened. We expect our enforcement officers to show common sense and to use their powers sensibly. As such, criminal charges will be brought immediately and we will be seeking the death penalty for this vile terrorist.
It's like one of those anarcho-capitalism memes in real life
I'm not surprised, those council 'enforcement officers' are a bunch of dirty cunts who typically get paid on commission.
Wasn't there an article not too long ago posted here about actual police officers threatening to tear down a lemonade stand and fine the parents for having to take it down? I swear there's like some kind of lemonade gestapo.

Like literally an omnipresent security force that patrols small neighborhoods looking for kids who set up lemonade stands. Upon finding one, a German officer wielding a Luger will randomly jump out of the bushes and yell "AHA, I have you now schweinhunds!"

Nanny states and late stage capitalism make a terrifying combo.
It annoys me a bit that the media twisted the headline.
The ticket was issued to the parent, not the child.
It's still wrong, but they cannot and would not issue a penalty notice to a 5 year old.

You're right of course, but I can see why it was phrased like that. (apart from the obvious clickbait reason)
The fine was issued to the parent, but it was the girl who """broke the law""" and even those shitheads aren't dumb enough to actually give a five year old a 150£ fine. It was issued to the parent, but it was clearly aimed at the girl.
How dense are these assholes? Like, did they seriously think that this wouldn't come back to bite them? :v:
What the...
This is absurd and absolutely unbelievable. The whole thing is just. What? I can not wrap my head around this.
Some councils in our country would be stupid enough to do something like this.
