Germany sees growing 'fake father' racket for migrants

Authorities in Berlin admitted on Tuesday that Germany was seeing an epidemic of so-called "fake fathers" across the country - perhaps as many as 5,000 a year.
The practice revolves around German men claiming paternity of a migrant's child in exchange for a cash payout, and a German passport for the infant.
If their child is a citizen, the mothers can then be granted permanent residency in Germany.
Ew
Here's a more in-depth article: http://www.dw.com/en/german-government-pushes-law-aimed-at-stopping-migrant-paternity-sale-scams/a-38309110
Why do the kids get automatic citizenship because some possibly random dude claimed paternity?
Shouldn't citizenship be based on time spent in the country and how intergrated you are.
They are currently closing this loophole.
Whats the metric for integration for a kid?
I met a little Polish girl who had moved with her mother to Germany after her father was - i dont remember how, but one way or another, gone. That's Schengen free movement for you, of course, but the thing is she, a little child who came 7 years old and now is 11 years old, is quite possibly as integrated as reasonably can be expected, and even more - Kids adapt fast. I was quite surprised since I found, at the time, 7 to be too old, but she speaks the language fluently, and has gained friendships at her school, incl. my niece. What more do you expect? Do you want a 9 year old kid to learn Common Law and the Constitution? Kids learn languages amazingly fast. Kids make friends almost naturally. And after those, there isnt much more to expect from a kid.
The parents are often to blame when a kid isnt properly integrated. If we were talking about genuine adoptions, I'd say kid should have citizenship the moment he/she arrives at the new family. OP Topic isnt about integration, it is about a loophole, which is not I am talking about here - I am talking about integration because you are.
On the other hand, imagine the scenario too: You go to X country, get married, have a child, and try to come back to Germany. Under your proposal, the toddler is refused because he isn't "integrated". See how absurd this is?
You're taking a lot more from my statement than I meant. I'm not proposing toddlers be "integrated". I want kids go to school, learn the local culture and try to understand it.
I just found it weird that you would get citizenship because a non-citizenship third party recognized you as their kid.
Can't you just run a DNA test and be done with it?
It is not a "third party" if there is a person claiming to be the father, if he is the father indeed, then that has everything to do with citizenship. Just have to make sure.
Also, you cant make kids do any of those things. All that happens naturally. I am sure it is obligatory to go to school in Germany.
If that has anything to do with citizenship, you will have to explain it (except just saying that what the law says).
If the parents are holding their kids back from integrating (school and/or taking part in native actitivities), that would be a reason for not awarding citizenship, until it's resolved.
I'd rather have my kid in my country thank you very much? It is called jus sanguinis. A German person having a child makes the child automatically German. Replace German with many, many other countries.
You dont look at that when the father is German. And the kid is obligated to go to school - if parents deny that, and the kid has a right to citizenship, like having a German father, you (probably) throw the parents in jail and have the kid be sent to social services.
A child generally doesnt get citizenship when his parents immigrate to a country, but there are often special circumstances, like when the child is unaccompanied. In my opinion, a child should get citizenship not immediately, but faster than other residents - that is why I emphasised a child learning fast.
If the parents come to Germany and deny their children going to school, which I assume almost never happens, I dont know what would happen. It is tricky - you dont wanna deport a child on such a petty dispute, but you also dont want to seperate a family. I assume the child gets deported too.
There is jus soli in Germany with restrictions, so children born in Germany arent always citizens either.
So the father is a German citizen then? I don't think the article mentioned that, seems I missed some text in the heading. I thought this was immigrant men recognizing fathership and making kids German citizens. It didn't add up to me.
Shouldn't there be DNA tests done?
It explicitly says German men in the snippet.
It's a blue link on blue background, I missed it.

Then read the source?
Then read the source?
I did and the article linked in it and still missed it. It's only said once in each article. I guess that title made be believe that it was the migrants that were 'fake fathers'.
Wait, I don't understand - how are child support costs in Germany handled in cases where children are born out of wedlock?
Seems really risky to open yourself up to abuse like this in case the woman decides to screw you over and demand child support payments or something. I know it's not the US, but there has been a precedent there where someone was ordered to pay child support costs for a kid that wasn't even his, so this just makes me wonder about how such a scenario would play out, if at all, in Germany.
Lettings enter more than 1 million """""refugees"""" then this ... good job germany...
