[QUOTE]Bob Givens, the man who created the official design for Bugs Bunny, has passed away at the age of 99. His daughter, Mariana Givens, let family and friends know via social media that her father had been in Pallative care at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank on the 13th of December and that he passed away from an unspecified illness on the 14th.
The animator started his career working for Disney on the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarves before making the move to Warner Bros. There, he worked with Chuck Jones and Tex Avery and was asked to look over a design for a rabbit — a new character they wanted to use, but all the designs that had come in were “too cute.” Givens would create what would become the iconic design in 1940, and the character made his first appearance in A Wild Hare. This film included what would become Bugs’s classic catchphrase, “What’s up, Doc?”

99 god damn
A legend.
99 years and made one of the most iconic cartoon characters ever. Not bad.
I didn't even realize this guy was alive, what an absolute legend. Imagine all the shit he must've experienced, living that long.
Bugs (as he's most well known at least) just turned 75 in 2015 too. Imagine making a character and seeing them still incredibly popular 77 years later.

Imagine being Bob Kane and seeing that dumb detective character you made as a homage to Zorro explode into a juggernaut of a pop culture icon over the course of sixty years.
And he got to stay alive long enough to witness the existence of The Animated Series. It must be outlandish to see your creations evolve that way.
So long, Doc. 99 years is a full ol' life.
He absolutely lived up to his name with the creation of such an iconic character.
Warner Bros should honour this man with a memorial.
