To this day, this episode remains the most watched non-sports television program in history, the anniversary of the 1983 airing was just last week. 105.9 million people tuned in to watch the end of the show.
This still is my favorite show of all time. It's heartbreaking to lose the people that made it happen. Fuck cancer.
I think MASH was one of the first things to nail into my head that war is terrible. I'll never forget him, or the other people who made it.
What a shame, he wasn't my favourite character when he was first introduced, but i really liked him in later seasons.

I preferred Frank to Charles as the foil to the main characters, but Mr Stiers was still a great actor and he will be missed.
Didn't know this happened. Damn man cancer needs to be stomped out of existence. I loved him as Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast and the Archdeacon from Hunchback of Notre Dame.

with charles they got to reset the margret dynamic, she became a friend instead of an adversary.
plus all the winchester subplots are superb, Stiers could always pull off the right amount of smug asshole and about face repentance
