A rogue developer (or developers) appears to have hidden a message in Metal Gear Survive, lambasting Survive's director and producer while mourning Kojima Productions, the former developer of the series.
Right after you're prompted to enter your name at the beginning of Survive's campaign, you'll see it added to a clipboard among a group of other military code-names. Eagle eyed users on both Reddit and Twitter have noticed that if you take the first letter of each of the last names on that page, it spells out "KJP Forever", which could be interpreted as "Kojima Productions Forever" (with a break between the P and the F for the player's custom name).
Underneath that, two of the names with particularly negative connotations -"Bastard Yota" and "Cunning Yuji"- share the same first names as Survive's director Yota Tsutsumizaki and producer Yuji Korekado. Both are listed as "AWOL."
Ouch.
Going a little deeper, if you take the first letters of the last names of 'Iron Marlin' and 'Dire Gibbon', you get 'MG' - or 'Metal Gear'. Both soldiers are, tragically, listed as 'KIA'.
Sum it up:
Metal Gear = DEAD. (KIA)
Kojima Productions Forever
The director and producer of this piece of garbage are bastards and cunts. (AWOL)
these are the same standard names of the first soldiers you get for your mother base in mgsv.
people are really digging to hate on survive now huh

While the MIA guys are the characters you find in MGS V (personally annoys me that they have a prefix in their codename here when that was not a thing in PW and GZ, it became a thing in TPP), Marlin and Gibbon are not. These were just generic names in PW and it's fair to assume they picked those two specific ones for a reason.
And the fact they'd be willing to slip that message by when the team has effectively been disbanded and reformed under a different publisher is worth something, even if the joke with the name arrangement is older than this game.

Call it nitpicky from hardcore fans if you must, but Yota and Yuji are definitely not animal names. That should be enough to prove there's more to read into here than just random [adjective]-[animal].
"KJP FOREVER" seems way too specific to be a coincidence.

that was an easter egg from MGSV, all the wandering soldiers' names would spell it out

does that necessarily preclude it from being a coded message though? the whole kerfuffle with Kojima started during MGSV's production before going public, didn't it?

It's present in another list as well, except the order of the letters is upwards instead.
Despite the controversy and #fuckkonami band wagon, I'm honestly having fun with it. It's a quality game, but just plagued with marketing horseshit. Charging for loadouts, gathering teams, character slots, etc. seems like way too much nickel & diming. Multiplayer is still really fun and there's a lot of single player still keeping me engaged.
Honestly, it'd be too big to call an expansion, but not worth full price, I feel. Definitely a sale title.
Someone's getting fired.
That wouldn't be a punishment though. They'd probably be put in the time out closet.
Someone's getting fired.
Konami doesn't fire you, they just put you somewhere miserable like the mobile game division and blacklist you from everywhere they can outside their company if you try to leave.
Kojima got really lucky he's as well known as he is because otherwise he would have been fucked after his falling out with Konami.

I feel bad for the other Ex-Kon's that didnt go with Kojima they're having a real bad time.
it's arguably a coincidence but imo it seems more like a coded message, with yota and yuji being the signature on the message
coverage of this has made me realise that the majority of people in america consider the word cunning a negative only trait
i was taught that it was a positive trait in school growing up :V
looking into it its 50/50 either "success through deceit" or "crafty lil shit who does stuff in surprising ways"
I've never thought of it as being negative, had no idea the true definition until looking it up just now.

I doubt that's the point they're trying to make, both the director and producer have worked on many MGS games. Yuji Korekado's been with KJP since MGS 1

Desperation since review bomb didn't work. I bet when this is pointed out they rattle on about how this happened because of reused assets, not knowing the context of the list

Plus all these names are MGSV characters from the GZ attack

I've never thought of cunning being majorly negative, just a neutral that can lend itself to someone being smart with their actions.
Sure, 'being deceitful' obviously meaning you're a lying shady bastard, I usually hear cunning it as a compliment to your ability to deceive- like, you'd use it to describe a good chess player, a magician who gets away with crazy tricks, someone who's really successful with their pick-up lines (cunning linguist ha ha jokes), etc
yeah this is what i thought too, just noting that theres an overwhelming amount of people that think its like the op joked (i think) basically equal to being a cunt.
I do want to address this though- it can still be applied to deceptive individuals, and be calling him a liar or a string-puller in the demise of KJP or whatever.
While I don't think people interpreting the word directly as "cunt" are right at all, if that WAS the intent you can't outright put 'cunt yoji' in there and expect to get away with it until after launch so you'd have to be a little crafty with it :v:

I've always looked at it as self-deprecating humor. The people in charge referring to themselves as cunning bastards for pulling off the creation of a decent game despite a lot of potential issues. Whether you want to just look at it as a cute continuation of the joke or a more snide jab at their employers is up to personal opinion.

Surprise surprise that a publisher who's known to completely fuck up franchises and turn them into gambling addictions or completely hollow cash cows release a game that is widely hated.
that was an easter egg from MGSV, all the wandering soldiers' names would spell it out
You'll also notice their unit on the list matches the highest stat they have in MGSV
also Vengeful Mosquito is the dude who takes over one of your platforms in the FOB tutorial

"Cunning" means "cheating" in Japanese.

What about the fact that MG is listed as "KIA"?
On a side note, some of the codenames on that list amuse me. "Dire Gibbon". Seriously?

I don't see an MG
I don't see an MG
The first two below Vengeful Mosquito. (The guy who goes nuts and tries to take over Mother Base)
Iron Marlin
Dire Gibbon
Both are listed as "KIA" (Killed In Action)
That is serious reaching. It'd be one thing if it said Merry Gopher or something, but those are totally different characters.
That doesn't even fit the KJP FOREVER format either

Uh?
They're all the second name's first letter?

They literally spell out MG KJP FOREVER and if you look to the side of the MG part it says KIA. I get you like survive but do not blind yourself
its above KJPFOREVER and in the game they're from they dont have a prefix name
