Concerns over debris littering the world’s oceans are back in the spotlight after a Canadian fishing crew found a lobster with the blue and red Pepsi logo imprinted on its claw. Trapped in the waters off Grand Manan, New Brunswick, the lobster had been loaded on to a crate to have its claws banded when Karissa Lindstrand came across it. Lindstrand, who drinks as many as 12 cans of Pepsi a day, quickly spotted the resemblance. “I was like: ‘Oh, that’s a Pepsi can,’” she said. On closer look, it seemed more like a tattoo on the claw. “It looked like it was a print put right on the lobster claw.” Neither she or any of the crew had seen anything like it. More than a week after the find, debate has swirled over how it might have come to be: some believe the lobster might have grown around a can that ended up at the bottom of the ocean. Others speculate that part of a Pepsi box somehow become stuck on the lobster.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/nov/29/lobster-pepsi-logo-ocean-new-brunswick-canada?CMP=twt_a-environment_b-gdneco Advertising is getting a little out of hand.
Advertising is getting a little out of hand.
Well, a little out of claw.
Lindstrand, who drinks as many as 12 cans of Pepsi a day
that's more coke than i drink in a generous month
12 cans of pepsi a day ._.
that's more coke than i drink in a generous month
That's [del]1680[/del] 1800 calories worth of Pepsi a day :wow:
I hope it's at least cherry flavoured because otherwise, ew. Pepsi usually sucks.
Our impact on the world continues to show up in unexpected ways. I can't tell if that's supposed to be something stuck on it's claw that it's shell started to grow over or what.
I hope it's at least cherry flavoured because otherwise, ew. Pepsi usually sucks.
You take that back, mister, right now
some believe the lobster might have grown around a can that ended up at the bottom of the ocean. don't lobsters molt? or am i confusing my arthropods
You take that back, mister, right now
I mean, I'll drink it if there's no coke when I fancy one but usually, they taste mediocre. Strawberry Pepsi is the shit tho, too bad it's rare as hell where I live.
All soda is bad, even for lobsters. It fucks your sleep, your weight, and your hydration.
I genuinely think soda ought to be a regulated substance sold only to adults, at LEAST the packs should be. It's addictive, it fucks with everything you just said and your teeth to boot, it's just shit garbage poison all around that kids shouldn't be drinking. Maybe I'm biased because of my own personal experience, but, yeah, I grew up drinking all the soda I wanted because my parents didn't give a shit. I rarely drank anything else and neither did my relatives. Because it was sweet and sugary and kids don't appreciate consequence. That could have consequences for the rest of my life, not to mention the fact that it made me fat and fucked up my teeth something awful. I still struggle with an addiction to it as an adult. And I really didn't have much of a choice about any of this, I'm basically saddled with it because the decision was put in the hands of myself as a 7 year old. Fuck soda
new mascot maybe? Pepsi could really use something after that "hand your enemy a pepsi and everything will be okay" bs.
But in all serious, how did this happen?

Many creatures mimic their environment's color and if it just happens to be filled with trash....
don't lobsters molt? or am i confusing my arthropods
They do. I'm guessing it came from a cardboard box part that hit the lobster at some point and transferred the image to the shell. I remember one time I accidentally set a cardboard box down on a table that was wet with white board cleaner and when I picked it up it transferred the image completely onto the table.
Lindstrand, who drinks as many as 12 cans of Pepsi a day
Considering one can of Pepsi contains 33 grams of sugar, which apparently is way more than the 25 grams MAXIMUM that the American Heart Association recommends women consume in a day, that is an impressive dedication to unhealthiness lol
Caffine addictions from soda is probably the most untreated addiction out there, because no one realizes theyre addicted.
That and 'it's just soda'. We pretty effectively believe it's something petty and minor, while nobody's preaching that soda is good for you the sheer casualness of it's use in society makes it akin to the Flinstones smoking cigarettes style not giving a fuck to me. I mean, look at what it objectively is as a substance and tell me me what makes it so much better than a cigarette; Unhealthy for you - Check Addictive - Check Fucks up your waistline - Check Effects daily life - Check Sold in packs that can drain tons of money in a month - Check Ruins your teeth - Check Can increase your risk for debilitating diseases - Check (in this case Diabetes) Available to Children - Unlike cigarettes, Check I'm not saying that soda is just as bad as cigarettes the same way one doesn't equate beer with heroin but that doesn't mean it's perfectly fine and shouldn't be regulated somehow.
Can't you just like, not drink so much? Your waistline will be ok

They are the same thing but worse and young kids see them as a cool thing to drink.
That's [del]1680[/del] 1800 calories worth of Pepsi a day :wow:
I'm like 99% sure they mean diet pepsi which has close to 0 cals/can and no (real) sugar.
Can't you just like, not drink so much? Your waistline will be ok
Yes and no. Not for me because I have an addiction. Not being able to just 'not drink so much' is kind of the point. And one soda is rarely enough for me. Trying to maintain a 'decent' soda intake just results in me drinking a minimum of 6 a day, or using it frequently as stress relief. (This by the way results in an extra 960 calories and 246 grams of sugar daily which is virtually fucking impossible to leverage with the rest of your diet without some serious exercise). But there are people that stick to '1 a day'. Same as there are people that only smoke on certain occasions. That doesn't make it fine however as this will still affect your teeth, health, metabolism, and you will still be around 20 percent more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. And again, this would require children with access to soda be capable of making the judgement call to only have 1 a day as a means of lessening it's affect on their teeth, health, waistline, and risk for diabetes, which they are entirely unfit to reliably make. I'm very curious to know the exact numbers on how soda influences child obesity.
Unrelated : I like the OP OvB has a crab avatar answer posting about lobsters :v:
I'm like 99% sure they mean diet pepsi which has close to 0 cals/can and no (real) sugar.
but then you're drinking raw motor oil
that's more coke than i drink in a generous month

12 cans of pepsi a day ._.

That's [del]1680[/del] 1800 calories worth of Pepsi a day :wow:
How about 30 cans a day: And I feel bad if I drink a can of coke more than once every two weeks. :pudge:
my mom was LITERALLY ADDICTED to dr. pepper while i was a kid, and i've grown to absolutely hate dr. pepper because of it. when you grow up in a house littered with half-drinken cans of the stuff, you grow a natural distaste for it. despite that, i used to drink A LOT of soda as a teenager. typically a 12 pack of pepsi/coke (depending which was on sale) in less than a week. it really takes a toll on your innards and makes your stomach feel acidic. not to mention had it not been for my soda addiction i would have nearly perfect teeth because i've always been good about brushing/flossing. but it doesnt matter how much you floss or brush, if you consistently drink soda throughout the day then you're gonna do damage to your teeth because you're putting both acid and insane amounts of sugar on them inbetween brushing. on top of that, it causes really bad acne and other forms of skin defects. which can lead to really shitty self esteem. it took my first dentist visit in almost a decade to realize that i really needed to slow down. now i only drink soda maybe once or twice a week assuming the restauraunt im at doesnt have iced tea, but even then i try to drink it through a straw so it doesnt touch my teeth as much. tldr soda is really bad for you please regulate yourself and dont get addicted. appreciate how fucking good water is for you. even if you buy bottled water, its still better than killing yourself with soda
