Filthy Frank announces book, end of YouTube series

George Miller, a.k.a. joji a.k.a. Filthy Frank, appears to have finally drawn the curtain on the immortal Filthy Frank series on YouTube. Here's the word straight from his Twitter:

The book, which covers all the characters and lore in the Filthy Frank universe, is called "Francis of the Filth" and can be bought on Amazon and iTunes. The author of the book is written as "George Miller", which seems to cement the idea that he's finally distancing himself from the character and moving on to bigger and brighter things. I didn't see this posted about anywhere and figured it was pretty important internet news.
Aww
Goodbye, papa franku
Damn
It was pretty obvious this was coming sooner or later though, sad to see the YouTube series I've loved over the past few years end. I can understand though since it's obvious George wasn't enjoying it himself anymore
Didn't he try to end it once before to focus on his music and his fans basically tore his life apart to bring him back or something? I haven't really followed him much, but he seems like a solid dude and I hope things go well for him.
As far as I can see he's not really done much with the channel for a long time. Longer than usual at least (though it could just be Videodeck shitting the bed and not updating my subs again). And he's pretty much always had an on/off relationship with Frank, either the community starts to wear him down and he gets fed up with it or he has a great idea for a plot and goes whole hog with it.
It's kind of a shame, but at the same time he's basically fuelled that entire section of Youtube videos for a long time now. With his more recent focus on his music I hope he sees some real success.
I don't know how to feel about this, I want more pappa franku but like, good for him.
Preording/buying the book as soon as I can.
This man is a legend
I don't quite follow. Where does he say the series is actually ending? He literally said "The story will always continue, nothing has stopped."

It is ending on youtube and continuing in a book.
As far as I can see, all he's said is that the story he wants to tell is too complex to film so he wrote it. He hasn't said anywhere that he isn't going to continue making FilthyFrank videos, it's obviously taken a back seat now he's found his feet as a serious musician but saying it's the end of that channel is just plain false.
I think you could tell Joji wasn't really into the Filthy Frank character in recent videos. He was afraid to transition into a more "serious" personality before, but it looks like he realized that he doesn't have that kind of baggage anymore.
Even if he says that the channel isn't ending, I think it's not going to last for long honestly. I'm happy that he's going for his "dream" now.
Almost 10 years of Youtube stuff.

He literally followed this with a tweet saying he wasnt quitting. Mods need to tag this as fake news or something before people actually believe OP

Nobody said it's the end of the channel, it's the end of the canon storyline. He's done making story-driven videos as Filthy Frank, he even said it in the Hot Ones episode.

could you please update the OP with what you just posted b/c the way it's phrased right now makes it sound like he quit the youtube channel.

no? it IS the end of the YouTube series, I didn't say anything incorrect. whether or not you misinterpret "series" to mean the YouTube channel as a whole is a separate thing. he's saying that he's not continuing the plot or story of the Filthy Frank universe through YouTube videos, regardless of what he may or may not still post on his channel.
honestly i don't think it's a big deal, but if a mod or whoever thinks the wording of the title is totally out of the realm of what could be construed as the truth, then i'm cool with it being changed

if a TV show gets canceled, they say it's the end of the series. would you interpret that to mean the entire TV channel is getting canceled too?
I hope we end up getting a war and Prometheus shows up again. I'm just curious as to what he'll be doing now. Just music or something more? Will he only return to the character periodically or will it only be in story form? Will he be releasing more novels? I'm actually really excited by this.
Filthy Frank RPG when?

Good thing he knows it's time to move on already before he gets to the point of beating a dead horse. A sign of a good artist is a constant evolution.
This guy's only funny when he's doing that blue shirt and glasses character; and is utterly boring when not. His rant videos were pretty damn good.
Never really saw the appeal in his other stuff; his music is self-admitted garbage thrown to the wall and his other stuff feels like content billed for 12 year olds; dancing pink guy and eating vomit.
Kind of disappointing that he just wants to continue with his nihilistic schtick. We get it, you die and nothing matters; stop continuing to act like a teenager.

He's funny because his content is self aware. It's supposed to be terrible. Also his music is actually pretty good, at least to me.
Having a book means he'll have a chance to be on every late night talk show.

Well okay then. That was kind of my point of frustration; and the reason I posted.
Also simply acknowledging the fact that you know you're making a video is not being self-aware. There's more to it then that.

Mate you have a flickr profile liked to your FP account. You must be a true authority on what is ~art~ huh?
Seriously, people enjoy his content, just because you don't like it that doesn't make it "garbage thrown against a wall". The way you talk about something reminds me of the stupid shit I thought when I was like 15 and thought that rap was shit because I didn't personally like it. Then one day I actually listened to a good rap song and was like, "huh, actually this isn't half bad, there's a lot of musical talent going into this. Holy shit." It opened my eyes to this thing called "My opinion isn't objective law." Really did a number to teach me how to chill and just appreciate everything for what it is, even if I don't personally enjoy it. Like yeah mate, I didn't like the vomit cake stuff, but people did and I can understand why. It's a set of arguably funny but rather popular none the less internet videos, not a fucking oscar nominated master piece of cinematic work by the best studios in hollywood.
snip i was a bit rude in this post

Nowhere did I say it wasn't funny objectively
It's a damn shame that the video series isn't gonna be done anymore. Good luck to George with his music career though.

He was extremely anxious about people disliking his music or hating it on principle because it wasn't Filthy Frank and he forced himself to hide that part of his artistic life but with time he learned to accept it more and became a lot more affirmed and sure of himself regarding his creativity outside of Filthy Frank.
Yea people who are saying that it's over for filthy frank are clearly misinterpreting it
