Tesla has updated its vehicle lineup last night to introduce new performance enhancements to Model S and Model X – making the non-performance versions of both vehicles significantly quicker from a standstill. ... Without going into details, a Tesla spokesperson confirmed to Electrek that they are rolling out new software and hardware improvements that are enabling those performance enhancements. Since the enhancements include hardware upgrades, those new specs are for new vehicles being built today and not the current fleet. ... The improvements are more significant for the base versions of the Model S. The Model S 75 and its dual motor version are both gaining a full second of acceleration from 0 to 60 mph: Model 75: 4.3 seconds down from 5.5 seconds Model S 75D: 4.2 seconds down from 5.2 seconds As for the more recent Model S 100D, it’s also seeing a slight improvement in acceleration: Model S 100D: 4.1 seconds down from 4.2 seconds ... Tesla also updated the seat options on the Model X to introduce a new 7-seat configuration where the second and third-row seats fold flat
https://electrek.co/2017/07/01/tesla-new-performance-enhancements-model-s-model-x/
I still genuinley can't wrap my head around the fact we live in an age where a car can be patched to have better performance
Woow they made 75D as quick to accelerate as 100D was yesterday and 75 just .1 seconds slower
I still genuinley can't wrap my head around the fact we live in an age where a car can be patched to have better performance
Not yet. This is only happening to newly manufactured teslas. It's basically the same as the iPhone, where they get a hardware (and firmware) overhaul every couple of years.
Woow they made 75D as quick to accelerate as 100D was yesterday and 75 just .1 seconds slower
Probably a typo. I remember the 100D doing 2.3s/60mph
Probably a typo. I remember the 100D doing 2.3s/60mph
That's the P100D with ludicrous mode
This improvement is a mix of software and hardware improvements, aimed at the non-perfomance versions of the cars. Rumour is that Tesla have started mass producing the new Model 3 Inverter, which has a bit over 300 kW output and with it being significantly cheaper they have put it in the S and X non-performance models.
