Little Witch Academia [Netlflix "Original" Series]

An anime based on the very great pair of one shot movies Little Witch Academia, its basically anime Harry Potter, but with way less brooding and more "yey i magic'd the fuck out of that situation!" Lots of elitism, great characters, great scenery.
Netflix picked up the series in anime form and while its apparently rebooted instead of a continuation of the movies, its still a great watch.

Also there's 2 whole seasons to binge watch already.

I'd stick to the japanese with subs though, the english voices on the main characters just don't seem right

Not sure why Netflix made the weird decision to split it up into two. Literally everyone else treats it as one season of 25 episodes.

tattun likes the same k-on girl as me so little witch academia gets a good score
Why does Netflix call shows like Seven Deadly Sins and this "Netflix Original Series"? It gives the impression that Netflix developed these shows...
I just finished watching this. I loved the characters and how animated they are. I think the episode with Akko traveling inside Sucy's dream to be my favorite. Just love that memory turned into a 1920s cartoon segment.
This anime was also way better than Triggers Kiznaiver from last year which sucked so I'm glad they're making fun stuff again
I started watching the first few episodes but I didn't really get into it as much as the original two shorts.
I really dug this show.
Took a bit to get things going and I still think I like the OVAs more in some ways, but still a really charming time.
Watched this as it was airing in Japan, the animation is fantastic. I'll watch anything from the people at studio Trigger.
That's pretty much every "Netflix Original" TV show and film like Narcos, Death Note (film), and House of Cards.
Besides directly funding for shows and films (ex. Arrested Development S4 and The Crown), for shows from other countries, Netflix purchases exclusive distributing rights that can't be shown on anywhere else in the respectable territories. It's more of a branding than actual statement that Netflix is a studio.

Netflix are the last people you want touching an anime unless they're directly funding it. Look at ID-0 for example. That started airing five months ago, finished airing two months ago, Netflix bought the subbing rights to it and it isn't getting subbed until October.

Nah Netflix is the first people i want touching anime
They are directly disrupting the anime industry by giving people a actual budget to work with

It's amazing, but no money is being invested in Japanese anime at all. Even the In This Corner of the World director [Sunao Katabuchi] was making [the film] on the verge of starvation. He was making the film for five years with no income at all with his wife.
Japan, which has squashed and made fun of its anime creators for a long time until now, is going to get big retaliation from Netflix.
Machiyama also said that Netflix's live-action series have "five times the budget of a Japanese film. Five times [the budget] in one episode." He said that Netflix is now active in Japan, and "it lets Japanese film directors and anime producers make their works." Machiyama said that the cooperation allows for the budget for simultaneous releases worldwide. He believes "Japan's anime industry will soon change completely. And the film industry will also change."
In response to a comment that actors in Netflix Originals series are offered "ridiculous sums of money," Machiyama said:
There is a big paradigm shift happening in the entertainment industry now. Until now, people making films and anime in Japan have suffered their lives in poverty. Suddenly people with ten or twenty times the budget appeared, and it is becoming a world where they say, 'it's okay to make it no matter how much money it takes.'

ill directly support any company that properly supports animators.
Also LWA is a awesome anime, i kickstarted it back when part 2 ova was being made. Trigger is tied with favorite anime company for me.

If you read my post correctly you might have noticed the part where I said "unless they're directly funding it". Funding a show and acquiring the streaming rights are a completely different thing.
I only have a problem with Netflix when they swoop in and stop an unrelated show from being simulcast that otherwise would have been subbed by Crunchyroll or another, and then not subbing it for months after it finishes airing. If you're going to insist on not simulcasting about of your model of releasing everything in one go, at least use all of that time to release it as soon as it finishes airing. Being good for the industry doesn't mean you aren't bad subbers.
Trigger has always had netflix support since Kill La Kill (the anime is only available to stream on netflix and theres no home release as far as i know) while the small online nico nico douga animes they did go thru funimation, which have home releases
edit:
there was a home release of kill la kill, huh. i never saw it and amazon has nothing.

huh
I had high hopes for the show since I loved both of the OVAs. However, I think they did a very bad job with the pacing of the series. It's like they weren't sure on whether it should have a plot or if it should be just a SoL, creating a bunch of filler with a tiny number of plot-relevant episodes where the events are rushed because they're running out of time to do everything.
Ultimately I enjoyed the ride but it could've been better. Sucy is and will forever be best girl.
it's a joke guys jeeeeez
like I just said on discord i am partial to the meme produced by that animee so it can stay
Why do you think Fast Anime is here?
the category for this post says no "animays allowed" Follow the rules.
it's not an animay, it's an anime, so everything is fine
i played that demo at anime expo, it was pretty fun imo, though i did worry that it might get a bit repetitive
Reminds me of Dragon's Crown, aka a sidescroller beat-em-up. They get stale very quickly imo.
"magic sucks, science is better."
"I turned myself into a rabbit girl..."
"magic doesn't suck!"

Seems to me the trigger kind of makes up the stories for their shows as they go this is really evident when watching kill la kill because of plot elements are brought up and ultimately dropped both in the openings and the earlier episodes.
Like KLK, LWA had a lot steam in the first half of the series then slowed down because they either dropped ideas due to time and budget and not really planning ahead.
That being said KLK and LWA are two of my favorite anime.
