https://reviveheroes.com/
Hello everyone, We will get right to the point: Electronic Arts Inc.' legal team has contacted us and nicely asked us to stop distributing and using their intellectual property. As diehard fans of the franchise, we will respect these stipulations. Over the past 3 and a half years, Revive Network has filled a void in nearly 1 million players' hearts by bringing favorite titles back to life after online services were closed after the GameSpy shutdown. Only a few months ago, we took on the task of bringing multiplayer services online for a fan-favorite, Battlefield Heroes. The public reception for our efforts on this title were massive, and we never expected it to become as big as it was. At this time, file downloads will be disabled. This is probably the part where we have to say good bye. Before we leave the battlefield, we would like to thank all of the developers, artists, moderators, and last but not least every single player that helped make all of this a reality. Without you, it would not have become such a great time. Signing off, - The Revive Network Team
Eat shit EA
Right in time for Battlefront II 2017 release. And I was thinking it was only BF:H seeing how the website itself was operational last I checked, thinking it was because BF:H was F2P and only 'survived' on microtransactions.
Not to brag, but we too get the nostalgia chills when booting up these classic entries in the Battlefield franchise.

In other, more legal-styled terms, please stop distributing copies of our game clients and using our trademarks, logos, and artwork on your sites. Thing is, your websites may easily mislead visitors to believe that you are associated or affiliated with EA — we’re the only ones that get to wear the “Official EA” dog tag.
fuck off
Load of shit. They just want their old games gone for good because they think it will sell new titles. Coming from someone who pretty much only touches ancient titles like World of Tanks now because most new shooter games just seem so much less engaging and samey since about 2008, it won't.

Fucking cunts if you don't want people infringing on your copyrights how about don't kill your fucking games in the first place.
All right, then do what GOG did with Battlefront 2 and set up an agreement with them to bring the servers back up.
All right, then do what GOG did with Battlefront 2 and set up an agreement with them to bring the servers back up.
I think it was Disney's initiative. EA would never let GOG do that.
What a bunch of cunts.
I remember reading that the Revive team were on good terms with EA because they weren't monetized in any way and had no microtransactions. That's a shame.
I guess EA needs to make sure they get that 'worst company of the year' award again. (even though there's worse companies but w/e)
The fuck EA? Get out of here with that shit. Good thing Microsoft didn't DMCA ElDewrito. Oh wait they did lol. These people need to stop distributing the files and let the community do it.
The fuck EA? Get out of here with that shit. Good thing Microsoft doesn't DMCA ElDewrito.
No point, it's open source.
All right, then do what GOG did with Battlefront 2 and set up an agreement with them to bring the servers back up.
Why they're not doing this is beyond me. I checked out Revive's BF2 and BF2142, the servers are full of people day and night. The game is right fucking there. Why not capitalize on it?
You literally didn't want to do anything with the games, EA you fucks! It's not harming your business because the games don't do any business for you any more! Just let them be and stop killing video games god damn!
Will they keep the servers up and just take down the download links or are they taking everything down?
I wonder what this could mean for project reality, seems like EA turning a blind eye is over.
On the day that battlefield heroes went down, ross scott made a video where he very heavily criticized EA killing games I wonder what he would say about them not only killing games, but also actively fucking preventing games from being brought back to life
Will they keep the servers up and just take down the download links or are they taking everything down?
Just checked BF2142 and there are still servers with people on them, but at this rate they will eventually die as old players leave and there are no new players to replace them.
Will they keep the servers up and just take down the download links or are they taking everything down?
I wouldn't put much faith in them keeping the servers up, tbh
They've completely overreacted. They don't have to stop running the servers and letting people download the launcher for those servers, they just have to stop distributing the actual games. The trademark issue may be a little more tricky though. Don't take this the wrong way though, EA are still massive wankstains. Stopping people from playing a game they can't legally access anymore just because you want them to play your shiny new installment is everything wrong with copyright, and that faux-friendly legal letter is the creepiest thing I've seen.
Oh EA please take a lesson out of Bohemina's book and update the game to use the Steam Servers at the very fucking least since that and BF2142 are your last BF titles on Steam. Or make a great deal with GOG. You might have a legit reason but you are also a legit asshole for doing this.
Or at the very least distribute it on Origin or something for free like they did for Battlefield 1942
I bet within a year EA will bring back servers for these games...IF you buy this patch for a game you've owned for 10 years!
You literally didn't want to do anything with the games, EA you fucks! It's not harming your business because the games don't do any business for you any more! Just let them be and stop killing video games god damn!
Thing is, EA probably considers any person playing one of these titles as a lost Star Wars Battlefront II sale. In their twisted way of thinking, if they take away all options to play older titles, at least a few people will probably hold their noses and purchase Battlefront II. And they can do this at absolutely no cost, because even if they don't make a single additional sale, all the EA fanboys will still buy their games every year, and the heaps of microtransactions in their latest title will ensure that they have an even more profitable year than on average.
Fucking EA, it wasn't even that long ago when they revived heroes.
i wonder how many of you nerds actually read the letter that was sent to the revive team. https://reviveheroes.com/notice.txt they literally ask them to stop using their trademark, logos, and artwork on the revive site, as well as redestributing the game files for free. nowhere does it state they want the project to be shut down, that's wholly on the part of the revive team overreacting.
Yeah the redistribution part always seemed a bit risque for me, I'd have been fine buying a copy off ebay for it.

It's been fun.
But it is shutting down the project because I'm pretty sure you can't get the game digitally anywhere (2142 at least)
they still sell physical copies, not to mention they gave 2142 away for free back when it was shutting down, and was on origin for a while.
