Quentin Tarantino might be making a Star Trek movie
Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino is known for his love of genre movies, and now it looks like a Star Trek film may be in his future. Deadline is reporting that Tarantino is working with producer J.J. Abrams on his own original idea for a Trek film, which he could potentially direct.
According to the report, Tarantino pitched his idea to Abrams, and the current plan is for the pair to assemble a writer’s room of screenwriters who will then develop the concept into a screenplay. Handing off writing duties would appear to be a good fit for both filmmakers given their current schedules: Tarantino is about to start shooting his next movie, a drama set in Los Angeles around the time of the Charles Manson murders, while Abrams is diving into Star Wars: Episode IX.
Tackling a intellectual property like Star Trek would be a marked shift for Tarantino. The writer-director has stayed away from film franchises throughout his career, focusing instead on developing his own idiosyncratic material. However, he has served as a for-hire director in television before, helming episodes of both ER and CSI.
I feel like if Tarantino wanted to work on Star Trek he's gotta have a damn good idea. It's not his usual style
Well I for one am glad Hollywood still has some original ideas left.
:stop:
I'll feel like 40k would be more up his alley.
Yes dear God

I want to hear Spock say the N word
so it's going to include a closeup of kirk's feet at some point?

A redshirt then gets hit by a phaser and explodes into a shower of blood and gore
Klingon, motherfucker! Do you speak it?!

"you know what they call a repurposed bovine milk and minced meat consumable back on holy Terra?"
"Nah brother."
"A royale with cheese."
Holy fuck yes. I would LOVE to see what he comes up with!
"don't fucking Jimmy me Spock"
Unless I'm mistaken, this would be his 10th film and also his last. What a way to end.

"Awww man I phased Scotty in the face!"
"You see Spock, when you are fingering your human gf you gotta fiddle it like those old porntache commercials from the 2170"
"wanna grab a shake at this niggers planet?"
"Kirk, you do think klingons sometimes think about their moms while fucking while we sometimes do?
What the fuck kid"
If anything, a sci-fi is the kind of crown jewel he needs.
IIRC this would be his last movie, if he sticks with what he said a few years ago about only wanting to make a pre-set amount of movies.
(Edit) I'm slow. This is a joint project. Kinda surprised to see Abrams there.

Where are you getting tenth from? He's made way more than 10 movies.
his tenth directorial effort will be his last

He counts the Kill Bill films as one so he's currently at eight movies (Hateful Eight huh).
I'm imaging more of the tense scenes from Inglorious Bastards but in a Star Trek setting.
well at least that 60s manson era film is still in the pipes, hopefully. this doesn't feel right.
The testicular destruction will be taken to new heights
To be honest, as much as he is a good director, he absolutely is not right to make a Star Trek movie. He needs to have something he can work with entirely on his own that is his alone that can be an extension of him. Star Trek will never be his, and that will absolutely be a problem for someone like him who needs that for his works.
Didn't he say he wanted to do a horror movie? I liked that idea a lot more but I'm not sure if it's just because I'm not a star trek fan.
A Tarantino horror film sounds fucking fantastic. And gory.

I keep saying he should work with Del Toro and make a psychedelic inter dimensional horror fuck film
more westerns like Django please

I would prefer if he took a horror film the Jackie Brown route and toned down all of the gore and violence and created a masterpiece of tension over a schlockfest but Tarantino is a master of schlock so it'll probably end in a explosion of blood.
Good thing for me I don't care for the Star Trek IP. Bring on the Tarantino gore and coarse language fest mixed with ST.

Spock played by Samuel L. Jackson, of course.

An earlier interview with Quentin Tarantino about how he would approach making a Star Trek film. This might give an insight into what might be coming. Quentin seems keen to do a film treatment of "Yesterday's Enterprise" from TNG.
Star trek is too idealistic for him. Do 40k.
