in a major flare up on Israel’s northern border, Israel carried out a large-scale attack against Syrian air defenses and Iranian targets in the war-torn country after an Israeli F-16 crashed during operations to strike Iranian targets in Syria early Saturday morning.
The operation, which was carried out by eight Israeli jets, struck 12 targets in Syria including thee Syrians SA5 and SA17 air defense batteries and four Iranian targets near the town of Kiswah, which is home to Syria’s 1st armored division and part of the Islamic Republic’s buildup in Syria.
The Israeli attack was met with anti-aircraft fire, triggering air raid sirens in the Golan Heights and upper Galilee, warning residents of potential rocket strikes.
According to IDF Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Ronen Manelis, several missiles hit open areas in northern Israel.
Early on Saturday morning an Iranian drone, which was launched from a Syrian base in the Homs desert, was identified approaching Israeli airspace by the IDF around 4am, setting off alarms across Golan Heights and the Jordan Valley. Once entering Israel it was intercepted by an Israeli Air Force Apache helicopter near the town of Beit She’an.
That's my old high school a few dozen meters away from the crash site. I used to chill by that tree that got burned down. I heard the sirens in the morning but decided that I would rather die in my comfy bed than run out to the bunker.
I'd hate to say it, but honestly Israel has been kicking a hornet's nest for awhile now in Syria.
Both parties need to cool their shit, but Israel has been escalating via constantly bombing Damascus.
Thank god the neither the pilots or the downed plane fell in syrian territory. If they did it would've been war.

As opposed to peacetime where Israel is only dropping bombs over the border.
you forgot Israel is bombing targets in Sinai
for months (or years) helping silently Egyptian gov to fight IS guerila
It isn't silent. It is public knowledge. It just isn't in the news.
Like this week, USAF killed 100 Regime-aligned troops in Deir ez Zor. American media should have been all over it, but they weren't. Only acknowledged and moved on, news cycle surrendered to stuff like Trump's wife-beating aides and shit.
And this is why I personally don't watch any national media or pay attention at all anymore. The American Media has a twisted love-affair with Donald Trump when it comes to reporting on him. It is sad because the general american populace who are more like myself become detached from any international happenings.

I get most of my news from here, reddit, or BBC. Watching the local big news chains makes me want to eat the barrel of my handgun

Trumps presidency has been in a state of total and complete lunacy from day one. I mean you have someone in arguably the most powerful political office in the world who seems to be totally incapable of not diving into controversy every two days. Why would the media not be completely consumed by that.

Israel is still in a state of war with Syria, with Putin's proxy.
It is well known that Syria is a dangerous actor in the region supplying Hezbollah and aiding the ayatollah's Iran and its Revolutionary Guard. And when someone you are at war with, lets someone who has deemed your destruction imminent fly a drone over your border, Israel has every right to respond.

Only obsessives obsess about one thing only. A media that does it is almost completely worthless as a media.
Stay safe Bertie, sorry to hear about the tree.

Are you okay dude?
I saw a video on liveleak that claimed this all started when an Iranian drone entered Israeli airspace and was subsequently shot down. Don't know the accuracy of that though. I find it interesting that isn't mentioned here, however.

You may have missed the last line in the OP quote:

Basically an Iranian drone entered Israeli airspace and was intercepted, then Israel attacked and reportedly destroyed multiple Iranian/Syrian targets related to that drone like the air base that launched it. And during the air strikes one Israeli aircraft was hit by an AA missile and had to bail.
From the wreckage, the Iranian drone appears to be based on that American stealth drone they captured:

And this is the Iranian air base in Syria that the IDF hit, accordint to the IDF:

Oh, I don't mean that in a depressed way. I guess I'm just so desensitized from all the drill sirens and being a northerner during the 2006 war that the notion of getting bombed doesn't really provoke a reaction in me.

So what should they do when Iran starts building military bases in Syria, starts giving Hezbollah weapons that will be used on Israel, and then sends an Iranian drone into Israeli airspace?

That's where the most drama is. More drama = more viewers = more ad revenue
It isn't news, it's just Reality TV without an actual script
