Buckethead—the brilliant but reclusive shred guitarist—revealed in an interview that he has been diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition, and that even simple tasks such as walking have become incredibly difficult for him.
Speaking on the Coming Alive podcast, the guitarist said “Well, really recently, I have a heart problem where my heart beats out of rhythm. It’s been doing it for a long time, but recently it just really kicked up and became really intense. It's been doing it for a long time, but recently it just really kicked up and became really intense. I really didn't know what was going on."
"I just tried to deal with it and let it do what it did, and eventually it would stop,” he continued. "But it got really intense, so I went to the doctor and they said, 'You're on the verge of having a stroke.'"
A well known individual has brought joy to countless people with his talent, let's reward him generously by almost killing him.

Are you saying the medical staff tried to kill him?

This is a fraction of what he's made and a huge majority of it is amazing, if not master-works.
He's such a good guitarist that he can even adjust strings while playing and not miss a tune.

Out of rhythm heartbeats are scary, but it's made worse when the person experiencing them panics. Buckethead is a chill dude and I hope he will manage it well.
I'm hoping Buckethead Plays Disney gets released before he kicks the bucket
jesus christ, hearing him talk is insane
Son of a FUCKING BITCH.
Buckethead is one of the prime reasons I like instrumental music as much as I do now. This is fucking awful.

Same here. Bucketheadland is still one of my favorite albums of the last 20 years.

When I first moved to Colorado, and for about the next six or seven years after that, I was a fucking mental mess. I still am because of that time but so much more less now. A few times a year I'd go skiing with my dad and listen to Crime Slunk Scene and it was really some of the most relaxing and carefree moments of my life, just going down hills to that album.
Fuck man. I hope he pulls through this.
As man, for a second I thought this thread was about Lord Buckethead. Scared me.

Well, at this point if I really am never going to have chance to see him live, I hope a blu-ray is released that has some of his best shows. Anything to have something to look back on.
I've been a casual fan for probably over 12yrs. Never really dove head first in to his albums, simply because I never knew where to start. I guess I've always been thrown off how he mainly does collaborations and doesn't appear to have a common theme/sound like "traditional" bands/solo artists. I've mainly known him for his hard rock/metal work that involves using a killswitch a lot, as well as some of his bluegrass stuff (which I always thought sounded kinda silly).

There is a "Live from Bucketheadland" vinyl coming out with a bonus DVD, which hopefully means he's willing to release some more pro-shot concert footage in the future. Thankfully there's tons of crowd-shot content floating around and some people have tried to archive as much as possible.
It's good Bucket came out and did this interview. There's been far too many times in the past where I seriously worried about his wellbeing.
Without trying to sound like an emotional sap, I feel like his music has made me a better person when it mattered most. I owe him so much.
One of my biggest inspirations as a musician, and one I've always wanted to see live for as long as I can remember.
I hope I get the chance and I wish him the best. :frown:
i'll admit i haven't really listened to a huge amount of buckethead but i know he's an immensely talented musician and i've always had huge respect for him. this is really depressing news to see
this one's an obvious classic
