Don’t dilly-dally if you’re eligible. You must file a claim by November 8 if you plan on cashing in. The court is expected to approve the settlement in December.
The impact on you at home: As always, you’ll need to prove that you actually bought a GTX 970 before Nvidia sends you a check. You can do so in the usual ways—with a receipt, a credit card statement, a purchase order, etc—but the settlement also supports an easier verification method: Your device ID. Between that and the ability to file a claim online, you could register for a refund in no time.
To find your GTX 970’s device ID, simply fire up the Nvidia Control Panel, click System Information in the lower-left corner, and look for the Device ID listing in the default Display tab. It should be the second from the bottom.
Don't you just love differences in the legal system on the same product?

Gave my 970 to my neighbor when I got my 980ti. Gonna have to talk to him and tell him I'm getting the refund lol.

between this and the genuine warhammer chest for dota 2 that dropped for anyone who pre-ordered total war: warhammer, I've made 60 bucks for doing jack shit this week.
Nice, I think the receipt is in my GTX 970 box but I'm not sure where that even is, so this is a great solution.
I'll take it, I picked my 970 up in October of 2014. Speaking of which I can't believe it was already almost two years ago.

Isn't that when they came out? I bought mine literally the day they did, some chucklefuck returned it because it was "too loud." Except Micro Center knocked $100 off the price. Still chugging along to this day! (And not loud at all!)
Does a 970M that came with a gaming laptop count?
EDIT: Heard from a friend that some 970Ms may be valid for this claim, but others might not be. I don't have all the details so it's best to just wing it and file a claim anyways.
Oh yay, US only as usual when I actually have the object I could have got a partial refund on.

They were out in September IIRC. I waited a month since they were all out of stock almost immediately (as usual). I technically have two serial numbers now, since my first 970 died after about a month and I RMA'd it and the serial changed. But I'll just use one since I only have proof of purchase for the first card.

Woo. Now to wait forever and forget about it.
You're welcome, future me. You enjoy those $30.
Cheers!
Really can't wait for the money to finally come and I don't remember why I'm getting it.

They said it had 4 gb of vram, it had 3.5. Became a huge meme. And then a class action lawsuit happened

I think he means opening a random check a few months from now and having to think back on it
Kinda like when I opened my Intel check recently. I completely forgot about what happened

It actually does have a full 4GB of VRAM on board, the last ~500MB just can't be accessed at full speed:

I believe another issue was NVIDIA saying the 970 would have 64 ROPs and it actually has 56.

But yeah, I think is what Waffle was referring to. I remember years ago when I sent in for a couple rebates from Western Digital and it took almost 8 months to receive them. They were of course disguised as junk mail too, so I almost threw them out.
I'm just glad that all the chucklefucks that claimed that selling [3.5 + 0.5 slow] wasn't a lie or a misdirection finally got told off.

Unless I missed something in the old ads, I don't see how it's a lie.
It should be stated somewhere that there is a speed divide, however, it is 4Gb of RAM total.
Would this still count if you bought it in a pre built package? My brother bought one a couple months ago.

It literally is 4gb of ram. How it performs on the other hand, is a different subject that people should have looked into before buying.

I doubt that someone actually put that there.
But being serious, would there be any legal repercussions from just grabbing a bunch of people's codes and using them for the cash back?

If you got caught, you could go to prison for perjury. Not entirely sure how they could prove it though.
Where do I get the claim ID?
Where do I get the claim ID?
It will generate one for you after you submit your claim. There should be an option on that website where you can select that you do not yet have a claim ID.
Time to wait for my $30 to show up. I can buy like 3 drugs with that.
Oh wow, that's a nice little thing. Been happy with my card but I won't complain about 30 bucks.

You mean his serial code? It's right there in the image of the ad. I just censored it.
