Valve's Steam Link is one dollar (in a $9 bundle) right now
Those in the market to play PC games on their TV can pick up a Steam Link at a heavy discount right now. It's unclear if this is a price error, but a bundle that consists of the streaming box and an $11 game can currently be had for less than $9, although you will have to pay shipping.
The bundle itself treats the Steam Link as a $1 purchase--quite the discount, given that it's regularly priced at $50. With the game, Icey, being discounted to $7.69, the bundle's price is $8.69. Given this is a physical item you're purchasing, Steam charges for shipping, which costs $7.99. That brings the total to $16.68.
Even if you're uninterested in Icey (a side-scrolling action game released last year), that's still an excellent price for a Steam Link. With it, you can stream games from your computer to another HDMI-capable display in your home. Steam Link is capable of running games at 1080p / 60 FPS, although your ability to do so will depend on your network. Valve recommends a wired connection, but you can use Steam Link wirelessly.
That’s got to be a mistake.

nvm not showing up in the store like that for me.
I take this as a sign they have a newer (possibly better) version of steam link coming out, and they want to offload these and get people behind it before that happens.
Take it as a stretch, but it's a good marketing strategy if executed properly.

Steam Link has gone on sale for $15 before and the 30% cut on Icey ($2.31) combined with shipping ($7.99) and the price ($1.00) means Steam is getting $11.30 a piece. Which is not a big chunk of change, but that's assuming that they're not taking a higher cut on Icey.
I'd bet they have a new version coming out and want to dump stock.
4k steamlink inbound

it's $8.69 in my checkout.
Was about to go forward with the bundle but lost interest as soon as I found out the cost of shipping this to my urban address is more than the actual cost of the bundle
[sp]£7.40 for shipping is a rip off, I mean, wow[/sp]
what a fucking steal
nevermind 8 dollars for domestic shipping fuck off valve you're trillionaires you don't need that much to ship inside the states
Yeah its like 8 bucks of shipping to get it to Michigan, thats where the moneys at apparently
tbh I'm just waiting for a Steamcontroller 2.0
Honestly even at that price point I have a hard time recommending it, Steam Link CAN be the flakiest most pain in the ass thing to work with. When it works, it is amazing, but a LOT of games don't support it at all, or input is a nightmare to get working, etc.
must not be selling well
i would get it but i don't want to pay 7.69 for a game i never going to play :v:
Any reason to get a steamlink if I already got a HDMI dragged through the house from PC to TV? :v:

What do you want added/changed?
What do you want added/changed?
the bumpers need a better positioning. Maybe analog ABXY buttons and the ability to have a left trackpad that doesn't have the cross pattern on it.
pretty much everything else is fine imho. Just make it more solid and the like.
snip
I would totally get that, but I simply have no use for it.

I wanted analog ABXY too, but not sure Valve'll do it considering they won't be able to pass it through to XInput. Would be great for emulating playstation games though!
Never thought about a modular trackpad (dpad/no dpad pattern) - but that's a great idea actually, now I want that too

Came to about $16 after S&H. Let's see if they honor it.
I own one but I bought icey anyway

They wouldn't need to, they'd just have to have a binding for half-press and full-press, like they do with the triggers.
Would also be great for emulating PS2 games.
Rad, bought one. Hopefully it actually comes.
Icey devs currently throwing a party for all money that's about to hit them due to this free marketing.
Shit, they'll get people that don't event want their game buying it en masse.
At that price I couldn't say no

the software does all the xinput stuff
the benefit of it would be that you could have heavy attacks set to a quick/full press, meaning you can really have solid combat flow.
It'd be pretty crazy if bumpers were analog as well.
Sadly though that all gets a bit complicated, and possibly expensive depending on how they do it.
Bought a Steam link, then Samsung revealed their Steam Link app for Smart TVs. Now I can stream 4k Games to my TV, steam link only does 1080p.
was about to impulse buy this but I remembered that I don't have a TV
the software does all the xinput stuff
Yeah, but XInput only has a handful analog values it can handle, right? X and Y for two thumbsticks, that's 4 values; then 2 more for triggers (even though it might be one value, just positive and negative? Doesn't make much sense, so I'm not sure, but I remember reading something like that). And outside that it has no more analog values, correct?
I guess you could map some buttons to keyboard presses, then map the half press on the SC to that keyboard press; however PCSX2 wouldn't be able to do that.

How's the latency on the Samsung App? Does it even have debug info?

You would have to map keyboard buttons, but 99% of games support both anyways so it shouldn't be an issue tbh
[editline]19th October 2017[/editline]
that and 'joy buttons' are never analog.
It'd be cool to see A for left trigger accelerate in a racing game tbh
