Japanese police say they have finally caught a prolific thief who dressed as a ninja to carry out raids - and were surprised to find he was 74.
After his usually covered face was caught on a security camera this year, he was put under surveillance which led to his arrest in July.
Police now believe he is the so-called "Ninja of Heisei", thought to have carried out more than 250 break-ins.
He has been charged with thefts worth 30m yen ($260,000; £200,000).

Let this man free
Holy shit
The only fitting punishment for him is to be cut in half with a Katana by a 74 year old Samurai.

This makes me want to replay Tenchu: stealth assassins again.
He could be grandmaster of a ninja clan that decided to show the youngin's how it's done, but his old age caught up to him.
are there any actual pictures of this dude

Don't worry, no cell could possibly contain him

We aren't worried for the safety of the Ninja, we are worried for the safety of the men who cross the Ninja.
For some reason, I can only picture an old man walking through his house with his cane, hunched and then seeing the cops bust the door open, throwing the cane at them and then doing a crazy summersault backflip 900º over the cops and then face other couple dozen cops outside, surrendering to them. Ah, and some cop saying "omae wa mou arrested"
That's the only way I can picture this. I don't think there's another.

I think Japan has fairly strict suspect privacy laws

I'm pretty sure that's the only one publicly available.

Don't worry, he's gonna free himself soon enough

He's 74, he shouldn't be fucking working anyway.
It seems like money was only his secondary goal. Being a sickass ninja was way more important
he could've put his skills into better deeds and become a ninja hero instead
regardless of committing crimes though, that's pretty damn impressive
There's no heroics in the ninja world.
Either you're born literally Jesus in an orange jumpsuit
Or your older brother kills your family just because
Dishonorable!
Police said the thief displayed great physical ability, running effortlessly on top of walls instead of taking the streets.
Truly a ninja
Let him free and have him teach ninja classes. I'd give him cash just to teach me how to parkour.

Imagine a sector of security professionals/penetration testers whose whole job involves being a ninja, seeing how long til they're caught and what routes are the most exploitable.
Sounds like a kickass job sector with untapped potential.

it sort of already exists, there's companies that get paid to figure out physical security flaws and blindspots while completely incognito to the rest of the company hiring them
that sounds like really dangerous job, yet exciting at the same time because you're basically a criminal but are completely justified and won't get arrested
I want this ninja to teach me how to parkour.
Then i open the school of ninja, training the new generation of ninja
