Polygon’s editor-in-chief Chris Grant posted a tweet recently indicating that video producer Nick Robinson has been suspended from the video game publication pending an investigation by parent company Vox Media. The message was posted up on August 4th, 2017 by Grant, following a string of complaints by activists, games journalists and those who identify as part of the progressive media.

The tweet Robinson made kicked up a number of responses from people claiming that Nick could help the Overcooked developers if he hadn’t been spending so much time in the Twitter DMs of women working in the games industry. NeoGaf collected a number of tweets from people speaking out against Robinson, putting together a timeline of persecution, as more and more females claimed that Robinson had been a sexual predator in the online space.
https://www.oneangrygamer.net/2017/08/polygon-suspends-nick-robinson-following-sexual-misconduct-allegations/36602/
wait no don't let this be true i love nick robinson come on fucccckk
I absolutely fucking hate it when people I admire as content creators turn out to be giant pricks. It's hard to appreciate someone's videos when you know they're either a giant racist/homophobe, or a kiddy diddler. Not that I ever liked Lionmaker, but, still.
Been following this all day. Even the McElroys have commented on it. I'd heard he was a pretty okay dude so this is wild.
There people going " Here comes the feminist Witchhunt, because no proof have emerged just anonymous sources" on twitter now.
There people going " Here comes the feminist Witchhunt, because no proof have emerged just anonymous sources" on twitter now.
It always happens. Most of the people coming forward are trying to remain as anonymous as possible for that very reason. I don't blame them? The internet is pretty volatile so it's hard to come forward about anything like this without people busting out the death threats n' shit.
I was going to get back into listening to Coolgames Inc too I hope this doesn't fuck up the McElroy brothers' stride, Robinson was a big contributor (Car Boys, Coolgames Inc, etc) and I don't want it to ruin their mojo
That's... extremely upsetting. I've been a huge fan of Nick's content for a little over a year now. :s:
Sounds a lot like "listen and believe".
I've been following this all day, and haven't seen anything concrete at all, just stuff like "I have a friend who has a friend who Nick was a dick to," things like that. Makes me nervous. People seem to be implying that they know stuff that we don't know and shouldn't know, but we should just believe anyway. What the hell is happening? I'm not saying it's a grand conspiracy against the dude, but seeing some of the posts around the gaming scene make me feel really uneasy, with people literally saying "guilty until proven innocent." I don't like the way it smells.
This is absolutely devastating if true but i have a very hard time believing it so far. Everything he's been accused of would be extremely easy to provide evidence of and nobody has stepped up with any. It would hurt a lot to find out he's done all this but i'm really hopeful that he didn't.
from what I've heard this is a thing that's been going on in the background for a while now and is just now boiling over also this made me really sad
I'm holding a wait and see approach on anything relating to these sort of incidents. Witch hunting ruins people and there is no hard evidence yet. In the case that there is reasonable evidence then it's time to judge.
On the one hand, as more and more people step forward, it seems more likely that the allegations are true. But on the other, sometimes I wonder, what if more and more people just step forward for the lulz, knowing that the accusations cannot be proved true or false and the consequences for being thought to be lying are none, whereas if you're ultimately thought to be telling the truth you get to revel in the chaos it causes for the person subject to the accusations. I could make an accusation, not even knowing him and probably have it considered as valid as some of the potentially true accusations.
Until evidence comes forward, it's more-or-less just a bunch of hearsay garbage.
Out of all the content/people I would have to potentially separate myself from, Nick and his stuff was the LEAST expected. Holy shit. Also: Nothing's proven but bothering the people who have reported this certainly won't help.

Nick's videos are really popular and he has a huge fanbase. As Pascall mentioned, people are hesitant to come forward because it could put them at risk for harassment.
Also this article is... Less than unbiased, to say the least.
i really hope this is not true, i really like touch the skyrim and carboys
Until evidence comes forward, it's more-or-less just a bunch of hearsay garbage.
I mean yeah im sure we'd all love to see evidence and no one should witchhunt a dude but i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say if his friends, coworkers and boss, all people who have known and worked with him for years feel like its right to suspend him and make some public statements talking about how upset and hurt they are then I feel like theres probably some truth to it. The neogaf thread on it has some pretty good links and screenshots in the OP.
Outside Polygon, Nick does (or did, given the tweets below?) a podcast called "Podburglars" with other two former Giant Bomb interns Matt Kessler and Ben Pack. This came from Matt between yesterday during that time and a few minutes ago:
the juxtaposition of using his position at the company ( a super progressive and lbgt positive site ) as a leverage to harass women is fucked if it's true - I know it's an issue coming to light of the gaming community as a whole.
Also this article is... Less than unbiased, to say the least.
My favorite excerpt from this article:
I was unable to reach Chris Grant for comment regarding the suspension of Nick Robinson because he has me blocked on Twitter. On the same token, we have no obligation to believe them when they are trying to convince us that he's a felon, if they are withholding that proof. This is a matter for law enforcement, not Twitter, after all. Hitchen's razor and all that.
But what's the point? Nick's videos are really popular and he has a huge fanbase. Mischief despite the harm it could cause to yourself is just some people's jam.

There's a lot being withheld. And it's probably serious. No one wants to be on the receiving end of the volatile internet environment when it comes to either side of this coin - believing it happened or not. Remaining out of public eye while communicating with who they NEED to shows maturity and is once again a sign that it's a big deal and not some faux scandal.
If this is all just after he shit talked a video game then I'm not going to be taking it very seriously until some actual, legitimate evidence comes up, NOT people complaining on twitter. Regardless he's already pretty much fucked, because shit like this leaves a permanent mark on you in the eyes of many no matter how truthful it is, so I guess at this point you might as well just hope that he ended up deserving it after all.
The people making the claims have no obligation to present any proof, and they should not be harassed for it.
Is this a joke? Uh, yeah, the burden of proof kind of does fall on them. THEY chose to take it to public Twitter to ruin his reputation, they don't get to make it public just to smear and then run off to hide behind privacy when asked to actually prove it.

If the fuss is true, I hope he gets what he deserves. If not, I hope the privacy of the situation will allow things to return to normal and be taken care of.

He was acting like a dick in that instance though.
