Sanofi said it wrote a letter to the Department of Health (DOH) and respectfully rejected to refund the Philippine government for the used doses of Dengvaxia and support an indemnification fund. “Agreeing to refund the used doses of Dengvaxia would imply that the vaccine is ineffective, which is not the case,” Sanofi explained in a statement.
RELATED NEWS LINKS: "Panic over Dengvaxia hurting other immunization, health programs" "Ex-Health chief Garin: Attempted assault by mothers of Dengvaxia-vaccinated children an 'act'"
its only ineffective when you are using it indiscriminately like the manufacturer warned not to do and on people who's immune systems can't handle it. its at best for people expecting to be exposed to dengue feaver in the immediate future

[editline]6th February 2018[/editline] Also wasn't it for people who are expecting to be exposed again, and not people expecting first time exposure? Dengue fever is more dangerous the second time around and iirc this vaccine basically sometimes turned a first time infection into something that looked like a second one. I also have to question why they sold so many doses if the use case goes against their recommendation.
