It is clear he realised the seriousness of his condition as he wrote on social media about calling people he knew at 3am so “I wouldn’t be alone when I died”.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/conan-soranno-couldnt-afford-private-healthcare-los-angeles-photographer-vomited-blood-a7916191.html?cmpid=facebook-post Jesus, this was harrowing to read. :frown:
Who was that brainless politician who said "nobody ever died from not having healthcare coverage"
Who was that brainless politician who said "nobody ever died from not having healthcare coverage"
Name any GOP congressman. And name dozen or so DEM congressman.

I couldn't tell from the article because it seemed like he was optimistic about his survival, but I really hope he didn't sacrifice his life just to send a message.
Yeah, I saw this pop on my Twitter feed, it was pretty fucking disgusting to see his last post basically being 'if I get healthcare, I'll probably be homeless'.
Name any GOP congressman. And name dozen or so DEM congressman.
It should be these people coughing up blood, the ones who've condemned/attempted to condemn thousands of people to equally cruel fates.
Clearly, he should have not bought that iphone. /s
Imagine how frequently this happens and doesn't get reported on...this is really, really sad.
He really should have gone to the hospital even if he thinks the can't afford it. At some point he probably would have been able to receive medicaid.
I don't get it. He setup a crowdfunding page to pay for treatment? Why didn't he go get help and use the money after?
who throws up a bucket of blood and thinks 'geez well look on the bright side, i've got a roof over my head!' Your life is worth more.
I sure do love living somewhere where I can go to the hospital and get whatever problem I'm having checked out for free. They even gave me free painkillers.
who throws up a bucket of blood and thinks 'geez well look on the bright side, i've got a roof over my head!' Your life is worth more.
Perhaps he just gave up, considering no matter what he did he'd be fucked.
He should've gone to the hospital anyway... [editline]29th August 2017[/editline] It's not like they turn you away at the door if you don't have a credit card lol. They cannot deny you emergency treatment.
Why didn't he go? Like, worst case scenario, debt is better than being, uh, dead. In my book, anywho. They'd literally HAVE to treat you. It's not like there's some guy at the ER entrance taking down credit card numbers and the like. :v: Even then, if the guy is that poor, there would be ways to set payment plans, or get it covered through medicare or otherwise..... It sucks that he felt he was forced to die, but he had other options.
Doesn't make sense to me. He could have easily went to the hospital and got billed later. On top of that if he didn't have money he could have used the money he got donated for rent. Like none of it makes sense, it is still sad.
I sure do love living somewhere where I can go to the hospital and get whatever problem I'm having checked out for free. They even gave me free painkillers.
ye the hospitals here drug you up real good and make sure your all okie dokie before discharging you :ok:
This is an extremely odd story. It seems fear caused him to not go to the hospital? But if he was really in such a bad way wouldn't the hospital help him qualify for Medicaid? What was his illness even?
This doesnt happen in first-world countries
who throws up a bucket of blood and thinks 'geez well look on the bright side, i've got a roof over my head!' Your life is worth more.
Point is it shouldn't be an either or situation
The sides are pretty much: Cough blood and die, or cough blood, end up on streets, be a lowlife, get sick again and die.
Clearly, he should have not bought that iphone. /s
Or avocado toast, clearly.
the choice he had to make is not an acceptable situation in a developed nation
The system is shit I'm not going to argue that but he made the choice himself to die. They wouldn't turn him away, and he could've qualified for alternative payments. Either way, he didn't have to die.
The sides are pretty much: Cough blood and die, or cough blood, end up on streets, be a lowlife, get sick again and die.
Not really. There was likely a way to either have costs covered/made manageable for him through several means. He chose a fairly poor option, it sucks that it was a question he thought he had to ask himself in the first place, but the situation was far from one where he ends up dead in every scenario. He doesn't sound like someone who was altogether there.
America is such a joke.
We shouldn't need crowdfunding or going bankrupt to save someone's life, especially in a nation which has the money to endlessly spend expanding their military power for unending wars and wars that may never be.
We shouldn't need crowdfunding or going bankrupt to save someone's life, especially in a nation which has the money to endlessly spend expanding their military power for unending wars and wars that may never be.
is public healthcare kind of like crowdfunding? maybe they should create a campaign where they label it as such.
who throws up a bucket of blood and thinks 'geez well look on the bright side, i've got a roof over my head!' Your life is worth more.
That's not your decision to make, first of all. He decided that a life living on the streets and possibly a burden to both his family and friends wasn't worth living.
