• Force resolution past monitor max

I need to take a high quality screen shot in Garry's Mod, but my monitor resolution only goes up to 1680x1050. My intention was to keep it windowed, and just set a high resolution then take the screen shot. I have tried using Launch Options via steam: -sw -w 1920 -h 1200 But this fails the game to start - setting the resolution to anything higher than 1680x1050 causes the game window to appear for a split second, then close with no errors. Is there another way to force the game resolution past 1680x1050?
The pic is high quality if it is 1680x1050

Your monitor already is high resolution
Mine is only 1280x800.. Yours is already high resolution.
The thing is, I need it to be the background for an A2 size poster. So it would still need to be scaled up even at 1680x1050, and I don't really want any loss of quality. I figured setting it to windowed then just having a high resolution would be OK, just take an in game screenshot with F5 and I'd have what I want. Any other ideas?
Buy a vga to hdmi cable and use a tv or something, fuck if I know
If your screen can't support it, then why? It'll just show "Unsupported mode" or similar
take a bunch of pictures and stitch them together in photoshop
Mine goes to 1440x900 and it's good enough.
If you want, I could take it for you. My resolution is 1920x1080
Yeah it's not just a picture to look at. I have to print it as the background on an A2 piece of paper; 420mm x 594mm. That's pretty big, bigger than my monitor! And if I just take a standard screenshot now, I'll have to scale the shot up to A2 size, therefore reducing quality. I was just curious as to whether there was a way to have a Source engine game (namely Garry's Mod) in windowed mode, and running at a resolution higher than the max of the current monitor, but I guess not! Thanks, guys.
