Hi, I need some help to put my Logitech z-5500 to my Xbox360. I'm using an HDMI from the Xbox360 to the TV, and a Coax cable from the surround to the TV. This is what the back of the "control center" on the Z-5500 looks like From what I've read on the web it's an optical cable that's needed, and that I would need this set, if I've figured it out correctly. Does it work with using only the optical cable in that one, and the HDMI in the regular xbox port, or do I have to use the white/red in the TV? And finally, is there a cheaper way to do exactly the same thing? Xbox360 original accessoaries are so god damn expensive compared to other cables. Ask if you think I missed anything in what I'm trying to tell you. And just so you know, I have tried google, I just want some clarification on some stuff and shit. Thanks
It should work, and if it doesn't most places have a return policy. They should have something here, it has worldwide free shipping. http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.xbox
I've got a converter which is basically a little black plastic box with a white/red stereo input one side and a green/black/orange 5.1 jack input on the other. It came with the speakers.
You needto use optical cable going directly from the xbox to the system. Don't use the TV's audio out since most TV's only send audio out in stereo or 2.1. I have mine hooked up with and optical cable and BF:BC sounds amazing. If you don't have the game go buy it after you get the surround sound hooked up. Also I have an old xbox without the HDMI port so I can't tell you if the converter will change the signal to stereo. The Red and White will ONLY give you stereo [editline]08:37PM[/editline] Ok mine came with the converter so yea I guess you will have to buy the over priced MS accessory
The wierd thing is that I just watched a DVD from my dvd player, with the surround put into my TV. The surround worked there, which makes me kinda puzzled why I can't use it on my xbox from the tv. It doesn't really make sense to me.
You need one of these...i think Don't know where you can buy them tought... i did just got mine when i bough my PS2 about 5 years ago
Have you adjusted the audio settings on the xbox? select what output to use? Digital/optical/HDMI?
Have you adjusted the audio settings on the xbox? select what output to use? Digital/optical/HDMI?
Audio settings is just 'something'(regular I guess, not on it at the moment), Dolby 5.1 and Dolby 5.1 WWA (or something) Don't know where I can change the audio output though, or if it's possible...
Yea I guess you have to get an optical cable but it should be working with the coax. Maybe the xbox doesn't send 5.1 through HDMI which doesn't make any sense. To google I travel.

Yea it does. You may have to by pass the TV. There maybe an issue converting the single from one source to the next. My 37" Samsung does that, where if I have xbox hooked up to the TV and the TV to the receiver, the TV will only send out stereo. Works fine if I go directly from the xbox to the recevier.
You're best getting the optical.

Either way optical is the best sounding by far so you might as well break in and get it. Well...it works on my PS2 :buddy:
Well...it works on my PS2 :buddy:
yea because a lot of the logitech speakers (assuming that is what you have since that adapter comes with one of them) have something called "Matrix Mode" and all that does is send the stereo signal to the back speakers so instead of having their own separate channel it just copies it to the back. So it is 'surround' sound in a sense that sound is all around you but it isn't true 5.1 goodness
probably. I have Logitech X-530.

Sounds a bit risky.
