Anyone here who lives in Colorado?(Or any other state where weed is legal)

Hey Facepunch, I wanna know a few things, but first a little about my self.
I'm 18, I live in Denmark, I suffer from some major depression shit and mild schizophrenia and I have some anxiety problems too(Any social situation makes me hyperventilate)
Half a year ago I moved out on my own, it was the worst thing that could happen. I instantly discovered hash(a cannabis product, think of it as the vodka of cannabis) and fell into an abuse of it.
A month ago I tried smoking normal weed, and holy shit the high is different. My depression and schizo goes away entirely while I am high on weed, I become functional, capable of social interaction again. It was wonderful, it made me so functional that I could sit down and play my guitar, or program. It was wonderful.
When I turn 21 I want to move to Colorado so I can smoke all the bud I want without facing criminal persecution, it's really my medicine, when the high is over its like the CBD stays active for longer and I am still happy and without symptoms.
Now here comes the question:
Does any of you Facepunchers live in Colorado? If so, how is it? Do you smoke weed? How is it priced? Can you really grow your own weed legally in Colorado?
Would it be viable for me to move to Colorado or should I stay in Denmark and wait for the unlikely legalization of cannabis to happen?(We have been fighting for this since the 60-70's and nothing has happened, a major pro legalization party got into the senate but still jack-shit is happening)
I hope these aren't too dumb questions, I am just really wondering and Google wasn't being helpful..
You want to move to the other side of the world so you can smoke weed (for medicinal reasons but still) freely?
Are you serious?

Not only that, I always loved the US, people are so nice there and frankly, I speak english better than danish. Also the right to own a gun.
You also gotta consider that the fines you can get for possessing cannabis here are very high, something that my economy can't handle at all.
If you're really considering moving to the US for the right reasons, Washington State has legalized marijuana use. I don't smoke, but I know plenty of people who do. It's still kind of a touchy area, both legally and within the public, so if you do end up coming here, or to Colorado, be sure you swim the proper channels and stuff, otherwise people won't make it easy on you. Best of luck to you.
You contradict your username.
Sounds like the plot of a Cheech & Chong movie, moving to Colorado just to smoke weed legally

I like my country, but not everyone is nice here, especially depending what part you're going to.

Do you know which state is best? All I know is to stay away from Detroit and Texas.
As your friend, I'm going to have to say this seems like a pretty bad idea. You've no tertiary education (Though, I think you will sort that out before you leave) and if you screw up over there, there's no safety net to catch you and no family to ease your fall. I know it doesn't answer your questions and I know I've said it many times before, but this really seems like it has the potential to end badly.

I can't say whether Colorado is any better or any worse than Washington as I've never been there. Realistically you can do some research by looking up different cities in each state and see how the demographics there appeal to you, however I must stress that you should consider the other responses from other members here, in that you need to weigh heavily on the decision to uproot yourself from your friends and family when there may be alternative solutions. Not trying to offend you or anything, as I'm sure this is all going through your mind already, but I feel it's necessary for me to mention that this is a massive decision, and there are probably more factors that should be keeping you from leaving where you are now than there are factors encouraging you to go. Again, I wish you the best of luck.

Also Texas isn't terrible, if you don't mind heat and republicans. I can't say I can comment on Detroit knowledgeably though.

I don't live in Colorado, but I just got back from Denver a couple of hours ago and I've got family that live there. The state's got some of the coolest scenery in the continental US, so that's a huge plus. It's also the fittest state in the US and there's biking/running trails absolutely everywhere.
I myself have never used marijuana, but all of my relatives there use it in some way, a few of them preferring edibles(THC gummy bears, baked goods, etc) over smoking. The prices aren't terrible, they're more than street price, of course, but they're government regulated so you know it's legit stuff.
Yes, you can grow your own weed there. You can frequently find places like "Bud Depot" or something similar at stripmalls around the state(moreso in the town of Boulder, however.) There's also a ton of stores dedicated to "hydroponics" and "herbology" that sell anything you need to grow it.
And no, it's not worth it to move out to Colorado all the way from Europe just for the weed. Not only is the idea outrageous, but Colorado's real estate and apartment/house rental prices are hella inflated compared to most other places in the US.

Thanks for the information, the only way I could see moving into the US in any foreseeable future would be to either start up a business or if I got a girlfriend who lives there.
My biggest dream is to own a grow business in Colorado, I'd love to care for the plants and even try smoking some of my own produce, if that is legal. I want to experiment with creating new strains and all sorts of awesome sciencey shit that revolves around cannabis cultivation.

Whaat? Texas is fine, some parts are better than others ofc. Just because someone is right wing doesnt make them an ass. Austin is a great place for example. I'd in general stay away from west and south texas, but there are still nice parts there. The best place to live really depends on you. If you like rain for example, seattle is great. If sun is your thing, florida is for you. And so on.

texas is great if you aren't black and can tolerate pretty hot, dry weather
i've heard that the people there are insanely friendly

If you aren't black? We have a sizeable population of blacks and they don't really get much shit for it in my experience. We treat them like people. Though, I would imagine that some of the shitty isolated towns would be like that, not really in the cities though.
I'm sorry and I hope I don't sound like an ass but when you need weed to overcome your psychological problems you should realy concentrate on those first.

thats what hes trying to do
there's also washington state, OP.
it's similar to colorado but without snow, more rain, and also with an ocean, unless you choose to live in the mountains, or east of the cascades.

So you said you were in DK, just buy your weed from a german dealer, and cross the border into Germany once a month to buy your supply.

It's not unusual for someone dealing with mental health issues to self medicate. This is not a viable long term solution though. I smoked pot for quite a long time and my life sort of drifted along, not bad but not great either. It wasn't until I gave it up that I was able to move forward.
So my point is to get your health sorted, without pot(unless prescribed), and then see what you want for your future. Easy solutions are not real, I wish they were but they're not.
I talked with someone who has moved a lot around the world, she said I should move to another country because of the adventure, not because of money or other reasons.
I sure do feel like having an adventure, also I could always move back to Denmark if America is so horrible as all my friends tell me it is. All I need is a tertiary education so I can get a job.
What sort of qualifications would be right to put on the CV when applying for a grow business? Should I take a course in gardening or some shit? I could study botany at the university, knowing a lot about plants would probably get me a job at a grow business.

How about go to school or visit or vacation here first, then decide. Take weed out of the equation because to live your life by where weed is legal is just plain silly.
And remember that your dream business venture has an assload of competition and more is popping up every day. You don't have the financial freedom or family support to rely on in a foreign country so I really wouldn't advise coming here and hoping to set up shop and make a profit.
Why not get to know some people in the business in the countries around you where weed is legal, that sounds like a much better plan to get yourself into the industry. Maybe there's a Danish weed advocacy group you could join and make contacts. That's a real plan, right now yours is a fantasy.

Pretty much half of my family lives in the US, so the family support thing isnt really a problem.

And yet you failed to mention this until now. Why is your U.S. family not part of the plan? Visit with them, stay with them while you go to school. Moving to Colorado solely to grow weed is dumb by American standards, especially when there a TON of states that allow for medical usage of it, which it sounds like you would be a candidate for. Not too mention, again, there are countries closer to you that already solve your legal problem.
If you want to move here, great, do it, but have a better plan than "I'm moving to Colorado to grow weed" because the entire 16-24 year old American stoner demographic has already beat you it. I don't see you being happy financially with that plan, I see tough times. Go ahead and prove me wrong, but truly have a plan, with business finances and living expenses thought out on paper. Because right now, you sound like every other stoner young person who gets high and says "I just want to move to <insert legal weed state here> and grow weed for the rest of my life."
