Nobody needs to investigate, there's proof already there. I forget exactly what mission it was that left it it there or even what country it was that did it, but there's a small mirror (I believe 14x14, though again I'm not sure of that) that's somewhere on the surface, which is used to beam lasers back to earth.

Or you know you could just use what scientists put there to prove it. Retroreflectors. Mythbusters is your friend.

And yes I know it doesn't prove humans were there but if we could put a robot on the moon, I'm pretty sure humans wouldn't be out of the question.
