• Connection problems with Google, Youtube, and Steam.

I had a problem just like this a while ago and running CCleaner fixed it. This time, however, that doesn't seem to cut it - and it isn't just google and youtube, now it's steam, too. I have to run it in offline mode despite no apparent problems with my connection. Google and Youtube don't work on Chrome, but seem to work on Mozilla Firefox, even after a hard CCleaner wipe. A virus scan turned up nothing. The age-old trick of rebooting has not helped. I reset my modem and that kinda fixed youtube, but no dice for google and steam. I even deleted the clientregistry.blob file to see if that'd fix steam but it didn't work. I really don't understand what's wrong...
Steam's down for "maintenance," is what I heard.
I was able to get on Steam just now, so there's that. Google, on the other hand, is still refusing to cooperate with me. I can't type anything into the search bar and I can't access my GMail account. Youtube works, but it's slow as shit, and it doesn't seem to load videos despite loading the rest of the page...

Check your DNS and set it to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, which is googles DNS. If you're using a wireless adapter/wifi then set the routers dns to that too. I had similar problems (select websites/services running slowly) and the dns stuff fixed it for me.

I have Malwarebytes running a scan right now. I'm not sure how to go about this DNS stuff, though, and searching on yahoo (oh god, I'm living in a world where Yahoo is operating better than Google is) came up with a lot of different options for that, I have no idea which way to go.
Is shit going down?
I looked outside and checked the news and shit is not going down. Not 'round here, anyway!
