Happy 10th Birthday Metal Gear Solid 3.
Sorry guys, a little late, I know. But this, my friends, is my favorite video game of all time.
THE BEST. ABSOLUTELY.
So post what you liked about Metal Gear Solid 3.
I liked how the game mechanics could be used at any point in the game, at any time.
You could even kill one of the bosses by WAITING a week without touching the game, and he'll die. FUCKING GENIUS. Who else does that? Fucking no one besides Hideo FUCKING Kojima!
And this game was released so close to my birthday, which is November the 15th. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was released on November 17th.
Thanks to Kojima for making a masterfully made video game! And here's a video outlining the celebration:

Shit, I can't even believe Snake Eater is that old.
god, i remember when the ps2, xbox, and gamecube were the current generation.
Only eight years now and it'll be able to legally eat a "snake". :quagmire:
My favourite thing about it would have to be the fight with the End. I was stuck on it and ended up almost smashing my controller in rage. I stopped playing it for a few weeks and when I came back, he was dead. I had never been so happy because of a game before.

The End wasn't that bad imo.
I was 11 when i played this game for the first time, then.
Got this with the Metal Gear Solid triple pack for the PS2.
My God, this game was AMAZING.
one of the best.
I just played it for the first time this past December and enjoyed it greatly. I liked how it seamlessly goes from stealth to combat- you could run around like a jackass and shoot everything, or you could go for perfect stealth, but more likely you stealth until you screw up and then shoot for a bit and go back to stealth. Very well designed in that regard.
Surprisingly I had more trouble with the controls than with the bosses. Trying to properly execute CQC without accidentally killing the target is such a pain on the PS3. For the bosses, well, I decided I was going to do all of them non-lethally, then I got really drunk and decided for some reason to stalk and kill The End with just my knife and what do you know, it worked.
The whole game is basically a spy movie in videogame form and I liked that style way better than the techno-thriller Dan Brown wannabe style of MGS2.
I only in this last year discovered the Metal Gear series in it's glory, after picking up Rising because it looked so fucking awesome I got intrigued by the story. Having never heard anything bad about a Metal Gear game and being told by a friend to play it, I tried the first game and it was instantly a favorite series for me. Seriously, the old blocky game from the 90's was more well thought out and clever than most any game I've ever played, especially newer games. I've played every game up to Peace Walker; I'm stuck on that one because, well, it sucks. It's way too much of a mobile game and the areas it lacks in are way too obvious. Regardless, I'm prepared to pick up Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain the second I finish it.
On the topic of Snake Eater though, probably my favorite in the series, yeah, but I also noticed that it pissed me off a lot more than any of the other games. It just... managed to annoy me so many times and a lot of the time I was discovered or died and didn't feel like it was my fault, which just irritated me. Nonetheless, the story was fucking amazing and so was the gameplay most of the time.
Such a great game, really.

There are few games that reach this level of perfection.
This is my personal favourite game of all time.
This game was a masterpiece through and through, and seeing how Phantom Pain is a massive middle finger to the PS2/XBOX/GC-era's technical limitations, and how it is the game Snake Eater was supposed to be, in Kojima-san's mind, the hype levels are absolutely god-damn unbelievable. Hideo Kojima has my undying respect.
really good testament to how well made it is when it still has some of the most solid stealth mechanics in any game i have played
Volgin was the best. All of the other antagonists were pretty morally gray up until this asshole comes along and just starts punching holes in concrete and groping everyone.
His boss theme was pretty fucking good too

Not sure if anyone realized this, but the game implies that he rapes or un-consensually has sex with Eva by one of the lines he said "maybe you can entertain me until the rain stops" and this evidence is supported my the fact that if you check her por- I mean, medical history you'll see there's like, a virus or something from anal penetration. Volgin almost reminds me of Skull Face in that regard.
I think it's generally assumed that Volgin treats EVA like a sex doll.
in the medical history u can also see that she has silicon implants likely to be more appealing to Volgin. Only in Metal Gear do you find this attention to detail :v:
Speaking of attention to detail if you kill a guard in the canyon before the Fury boss fight and their corpse gets eaten by a vulture you can then kill that vulture and eat it and during the Sorrow fight the dead guard will proclaim "YOU ATE ME!!!" I love the amount of detail Kojima and his team put into these games
Another cool thing that you can do is to explode a C4 (or TNT?) in a food storage area and the guards in the next area will complain about being hungry. It's just one of those moments that I love in the game.
if you throw a tree frog at volgin he'll get really scared and jump away
raikov won't be distracted by porno mags
killing the scientists and engineers lowers the shagohod's health
killing the scientists and engineers lowers the shagohod's health
I did not know that.

I wonder what the reasoning behind that is...
They use scientists' blood to power the Shagohod?
If that's the case, [sp]why did Volgin kill (?) Sokolov?[/sp]

[sp]Sokolov lived thanks to the fake death pill.[/sp]
Though I don't know why [sp]Volgin[/sp] did that.

Maybe because [sp]Volgin[/sp] is [sp]batshit insane and doesn't care much about consequences.[/sp] Why else would [sp]he launch a nuke at Soviet territory?[/sp]
Best game
Fucking agreed.
I should've of done a review of this game already.

Finding this out kinda made me rage not just because i hate breast augmentation, but because EVA has some of the most realistic breast movement ever featured in a video game, making the idea that she has implants kinda improbable unless they were really good implants, something they didn't have in the 60's.
