What is better? Which tones the muscle better and quicker?
I'm pretty sure u gotta do cardio too for your abs to show..(if thats what your after) from what I understand though crunches are better
Could u explain this to me? Ive never really looked into it, but i do 20 crunches, 20 press ups, then 20 reps using dumbells and another 20 but differently
Crunches directly work your abs http://www.trulyhuge.com/news/tips01.htm
Do both.
Crunches only work your abs while situps also rely on your back muscles.
Do both.
This. What I do is 2 sets of a 100 situps then 3 sets of 50 crunches
Okay thanks for the help guys :D Il have to stay away from sit ups until i get a new mattress, as my back has been killing me for well over a month now. Any other suggestions? I really wanna bulk up a bit, at least have some tone there.
Do core exercises too
You should do both and you should also do some back muscle exercises like the superman. You should never work on your abs and not work on your back. You also need to do lots of cardio, don't think you get perfectly toned abs just by doing 20 crunches a day. Do 3 sets of 15 reps each exercise with 1 minute to 1:30 of rest between each set. Also look into obliques exercises. For extra exercising, do at least 2 days a week a huge set of strength/resistance, doing 10 sit ups, 10 crunches and 10 obliques without rest and without resting your neck.
Situps actually work your hip flexors more, and your abs are worked isometrically (meaning they don't move, but instead prevent unwanted movement) it is pretty hard on your back too. Crunches work your abs more and is better for your back. You can also take a light weight, hold it up to your chest to make it harder and therefore work your abs more. But 6-packs are made in the kitchen, not the gym. Eat a low calorie diet (the best kind of dieting is to actually eat a balanced diet but eat less. Doing diets that drastically change what you eat are bad, they'll get rid of fat quickly, but you'll end up gaining it back. Plus, they get rid of muscle a good amount of the time. It's better to make lifestyle changes and lose the weight over time and keep it off). Do plenty of cardio, too, like running. There are also better workouts for your abs. Get an ab roller (Basically a wheel with handles), those are good for your abs. There's also bicycles (lay on your back, bring up your feet, and kick the air like you're riding a bike) Don't neglect your other muscles either. Assuming you're working out at home with no equipment, do pushups, diamond pushups bodyweight squats, lunges, pullups (you can use a door frame if it's sturdy, you can also use woodworking clamps as a bar) dips, etc. Do bridges and planks to get lower back muscles too, it'll help prevent pain in the lower back later on if you do them right. Remember to practice good form, breathe (inhale going down, exhale going up/when you exert)
Crunches. If you're trying to get abs, cardio and eating right is the key.
Thanks guys, this page is bookmarked :P Il have to work out a new routine involving some of these new moves and il try stick to it best i can. Thanks for all the help :)
Planks, and 'V'-Sits.
Crunches, they're safer for your spine.
Crunches, they're safer for your spine.
researchers think, though the entire situp could potentially strengthen your spine
Squats, squats and more squats. A good squat goes a long way.
Neither. Compound movements (squats, deadlifts) + a good diet (the latter is way more important) Or weighted crunches if you're a pussy like that
Could someone explain to me how to do squats and deadlifts efficiently?
Shake weight (it actually works. not kidding.)
