Today I finished my 25,5 minute long Gmod machinima which I worked on 4,5 months. It is supposed to be released on monday. I decided to render a small video file with only the music in it to upload it onto YouTube and see whether it gets blocked or not.
"Everything's gonna be fine" I thought, because I am allowed to upload videos longer than 15 minutes since a few weeks. I found out it was only temporary and now I have to split my videos again which makes no sense since you have 2GB available in both cases. Why am I not allowed to use it as I want to? I'm pretty sure money is involved as always. It's like showing commercials in the middle of a movie in a cinema.
So I split this small file and uploaded two parts ... to find out that three fucking music groups claim the classic music inside (of which some are covers). And now I'm raging like hell!
I don't know what to do. I could move to another site but then there would be no community as big as at YouTube. Also I couldn't use features like subtitles or annotations (I planned to hide 17 links to other videos + links to the channels of the voice actors via annotations).
If I stay at YouTube my video will be not available in Germany (where I live at) and it would be raped by ads and shit. What do?
Upload it to something like Blip.tv and have a small "Watch the video here" trailer on Youtube. Have your annotation-y things in the description instead. Also, I think some other sites do subtitles.
Mountain Do.
