Which should I get: Fallout 3 GotY ($50.00) or Fallout New Vegas ($47.00)?
(Prices are from Wal-Mart)

Whichever one I get will be my first Fallout Game.
To be honest, I prefer New Vegas, once you get past the glitches.
Both are frickin' awesome.
Yes, both are fun. Personally I liked New Vegas more, but Fallout 3 was cool too, especially the end fight.
New Vegas, hands down
Fallout 3 is definitely longer, especially with the DLCs but New Vegas gives you the options to choose how you want the game to go making it a lot more replayable.
New Vegas is Fallout 3 with more weapons. Fallout 3 is longer, better in storyline, and the DLC's make it awesome.

And maybe the New Vegas DLCs make it better too?
Fallout 3 has some more epic moments. Like Liberty Prime.
Vegas has far more immersion and is much more open however.
I like New Vegas better. I think it's mostly because I like the landscape better.

fo3's story is terrible compared to vegas
I personally disliked NV alot. But I've logged like close to 70 hours on FO3 GOTY since I got it a month ago. Easy decision for me, but It's really up to you what you want.

must resist arguing
must resist derailing
argh
I really like the small improvements on NV, from fallout 3.
That is a tough choice, though I'd pick new vegas and get fallout 3 later, or vice versa.
I'd say to do FO3 first.
If you play New Vegas, then FO3, you might miss some of the features that NV had.
NV, why the hell are you even asking? Stay clear of 3.
I'd have to saw New Vegas. The DLC's are fun. But they're not all they're cracked up to be. Better off going with the game that has more features and replay value.
New Vegas.
Replay value, immersion, landscape, weaponry and weapon mods. Also, a grip of callbacks to the original two fallout games.
Although this is just my opinion.

I laughed.
New Vegas is better
Depends.
Do you want 4 different kinds of rifles/shotguns/pistols that are all pretty much the same?
How did you get New Vegas that cheap.
New Faggots is amazingly immersive and fun. Fallout 3 GOATSE is a shitty written game, but fun.

This.
You'll get pissed at all the stuff that won't be there if you play NV first.
Even with the DLC's, New Vegas is my choice, but FO3 was really fun too. The hunting rifle is probably my favorite in any game.
I've played Fallout 3 to death and I'm in the middle of New Vegas, and personally I prefer New Vegas. But Fallout 3 is a good game, though hardly holds a candle to NV.

Just thought you guys might want to know this in case it effects your decision or you didn't realize this:

I liked Fallout 3 more.
It just had more of a lasting effect on me. Plus I thought it was a darkly funnier game than NV.

If I got FO3 later, wouldn't there be mods that brought some of the new NV features to FO3?
Fallout 3 was fun, but new vegas is new...
Buy 'em both
well, fallout nv is more humorous, and has more choice, with alot less black and white karma decisions, so it has a greater depth in that way, however, fallout 3 has more things to do when you add on the dlc. really it comes down to whether you like the colour green, or yellow better.
