I am currently going through a proxy to post this, but when i go on the main site through my browser it takes me to: http://forum.somethingawful.com/ or doesn't load fp at all. I am currently using GoogleChrome on a Apple MacBook Pro 15" Assistance please?
Works fine for me, maybe you have a virus? (Yes, I am aware that you have a mac)
I will look into that possibility
It only loads for me when I put "www." in front of facepunch.com.
on a Apple MacBook Pro 15"
There's your problem.
There's your problem.
no
Check the mac equivalent of hosts file?
stopped working for me too unless i put www. in the url
Contrary to what many believe, there is a difference between domain.com and www.domain.com www is actually just a subdomain, just as "forms" can be one too, like when facepunch used to be "forums.facepunch.com" and such. Not all websites are www. It depends how the site was registered with the DNS. If it doesn't add the www when that is what the subdomain actually is, then it is usually just a result of a poor domain administration.
Yeah just had this problem too for 30 mins, now it obviously works again
Yeah just had this problem too for 30 mins, now it obviously works again
Still doesn't work for me without the www. If anyone is truly bothered by it not working, they can just edit their hosts file and add a line as follows:
facepunch.com www.facepunch.com
The hosts file is like a local DNS server. When you type a URL, the hosts file is checked even before the browser connects to the public DNS server. In other words, you can fuck with peoples hosts file by doing something assholish like:
www.google.com www.gayporn.com
where everytime someone tries to go to www.google.com, they will be redirected to www.gayporn.com instead.
