What type of beetle is this?

Found this little guy in my kitchen, it has a huge U shaped mandible.

they're just a beetle with large mandibles.

my bus driver in England gave me a beetle like that and it pinched me so hard, I cried. there is A LOT of force to them.

It's not a stag beetle, though. probably the same family.

Their family is called the stag beetle family. Stag beetle doesn't refer to any specific species, but the entire family of beetles with big ass mandibles.

You shouldn't mess with it then.

Anyhow, normally they're not particularly capable of biting or attacking with their mandibles.
They mostly use them to turn other males upside down during a fight over a female.
The females however have much smaller and thus more precise and painful mandibles.
