With my superior tech and advanced production methods i will drive those industrial tycoons out of the market. I can produce higher quality goods faster and more efficiently and more enviroment friendly than them. Also I might have first nuclear power plant running by 1900.

I'm pretty sure they could inflict some damage to a Combine Advisor even if old muskets are all they have. Combine Advisors are not totally invulnerable. But it would probably make humans surrender even faster than the 7 minutes it took almost 200 years later. But not alone, needs the Combine Empire.
