Suuuuuuuure :v:
I really hope all the first party games for wiiu don't go down the route of social stuff everywhere.
miiverse is actually pretty awesome there's a built in chat system where you can talk to all the wii u owners playing the game at the moment, not to mention in-game screenshot sharing and all sorts of awesome shit
Looks cool and all, but it's kind of wrong to brand it as the "killer app".
hahahahaha :v: I'm sorry, but I have yet to see any "gaming social network" take off. Why would Miiverse be any different?

Steam isn't marketed as a social network though. It's primarily a digital market for games.
They just redid the entire community setup.
Steam isn't marketed as a social network though. It's primarily a digital market for games.
You're right it just has a community tab, and they recently did a massive overhaul so that people can use it as a forum with a social network timeline thing.
It's like Nintendo is living in a fantasy land. Is there no one there to tell the head guys when their ideas suck or when they're putting all their eggs in one retarded basket after another, or are they still high off of those Wii ultrasuccess fumes?
Oh wow, a really basic highly moderated social network is the big killer app. WiiU sure is out to dominate...
Seems pretty great acutally. Nintendo's finally caught up with the times, all their past consoles including the 3ds have really been lacking in online functionality. Lets hope they update the 3ds to get something cool like this in there too.
sounds like something PC gaming has had for eons
True, but it isn't competing with the PC, it's completing with the other consoles.
I think the whole mii thing is retarded and just needs to die imo.

Also in before their netcode still sucks ass again and we're still playing online games like we're wading through a pool of syrup.
To call this their killer app is just flat out retarded. Come on Nintendo what the hell

Hey Nintendo, why don't you ask Sony how PS Home is working out.
Steam integration, Nintendo! This is such a missed opportunity.
I swear, another mario game and im gonna top myself.

Because that is what this is. If you been following any Wii U news you will see that they have abandoned friend codes and that the messages are automated.

Nintendo's full of people that aren't used to compromise. People like that expect what they say to happen as they said it. They either learn on their own or they don't learn at all. That's a part of their identity they've refused to abandon time and time again and it likely won't go away until the company gets some new blood.

http://www.shacknews.com/article/74243/nintendos-miiverse-messages-to-be-moderated They're automated AND moderated. My problem with Nintendo online will always stand thanks to Nintendo's policies, you'll have to meet the person outside of Nintendo online to have any real interactions. Anyone you play real online with will have to be from a forum or a personal friend or something. It's an online system made for kids, with more chains than most kids games get these days. It's funny, Nintendo's first attempt at online with Mario Kart DS was actually their most open one. Nowadays you're lucky if you can even see a user name.
Steam isn't marketed as a social network though. It's primarily a digital market for games.
But steam has the social network as a selling point, and so far, it's been pretty successful.
