• What if Final Fantasy games had Mass Effect-style choices?

Imagine being able to interact with other characters in the Final Fantasy games like you can in Mass Effect. Imagine how drastically different the interactions between characters would be if you could do that as Cloud, Squall, or other characters. I don't think it's necessarily a good idea, since JRPGs are extremely linear in nature, but I think it might be interesting to see what it would be like, what do you think?
It would be like dragon age.
considering your name and only mentioning cloud and squall, and your username being Squall, I can assume you've never played anything below that besides 4 and 6 maybe? Also no it won't work and the mass effect dialogue is shit [Paragon answer] [something neutral] [renegade answer] Besides it's not like the games put enough effort into the backstory of all the characters already. On second thought, that would be a horrible idea. Seeing as how the characters would be empty shells, whereas the FF series mostly depicts their characters as conceited, introverted, and socially awkward bad-asses who eventually develop into open and caring people.

Nor was firion like that. Terra was brainwashed and experimentend on for most part and and basch isn't really like that either. Nor is Vaan if you can really count him as a protag.
"Who said anything about love? I'm just trying to get you in bed." Kay. I haven't played any FF series but from what I recall, it would be a bad idea.
