Best Horror Games? - General

Alright Facepunch, give me some titles of scary games (preferably free ones) Ones I have played: Underhell SCP Containment Breach Ones I already know/want to play already: Silent Hill Amnesia Dead Space

Afraid of Monsters: Directors Cut is pretty good I'd say. It's a mod for the original Half Life

Silent Hill 3 and Origins rendered me MANY sleepless nights. Dead Space aren't THAT horror game, I only laughed and mimicked the aliens screams throughout the game. It's a good game, neverthless. One that still haunts me Is Resident Evil 2.

If you own half life 2 then nightmare house 2 and underhell. Both of them are have plenty of jumpscares though.

Eternal Darkness

Jump scares are fun for a little bit, if you're looking for cheap scares. It's only when people overuse them that it gets old and annoying.

You mentioned you already want to go for Amnesia. I can vouch for the quality of that one. At first it seems harmless enough, but damn it has some tense stuff.

Silent hill games are generally creepy, except for downpour, which was goddamn laughable. Other than that? Nightmare house 2.

Penumbra: black plague I found it to be challenging, creepy, and scary.

Ju-on the grudge and The Calling, they are both really scary but its for the Wii.

there are quite a few flash horror games on newgrounds, you should try them.

I found the penumbra series way more enthralling than amnesia personally.

I am probably going to get a few disagrees, but I found Bioshock 1 and 2 pretty scary. The atmosphere is just so eerie and immersive, Great games regardless.

It has bad graphics (in my opinion it's way too bright) but the interaction with the actual SCP is good, and is closer from the real deal than the first.
