These articles are pretty misleading. The only time a company will ever be sold for such a small amount is when the buyer guarantees to invest large amounts into it.

Yep. Or, like a local shopping mall that went for the grabbing headline of £1, was actually bought for £50 mil since the buyers paid off all their debts.
