I want to start a thread where we can share some lesser-known games for those of us that think we've played almost everything. Pinobee: Wings of Adventure was the first game I ever owned, on the first console I owned, waaaay back in first grade. This is a unique platformer that involved you playing as a robotic bee thing, kinda like if Megaman was an insect is how I would describe his design. His main ability that I remember was that he had a jetpack, and dashing into enemies with it was his attack. So the gameplay can be described as akin to Sparkster. My recollection of the title is very foggy, so I only remember little details here and there. This game was very "different" as I recall. I remember there being like 50 levels, and only like 2 bosses. The first one was a giant robot spider. The second was a robot giant wasp, that would turn into a swarm of tiny wasps for you to attack. Every time they would reform with less wasps, the boss would become something different and smaller, until eventually when there was like 5 tiny wasps left, he would just be a floating gear. I also remember there was also some Sonic Advance-esque rail grinding stages on these green-bean looking things. I lost the game in South Carolina and haven't played it since.
Echelon, a weird sci-fi combat flight simulator, you could fly a variety of VTOL planes, customize their loadout and stuff, I remember the game being really awesome and complex for its time. Then I lost the disk and couldn't find it again anywhere, not even on the most russian of warez sites. BUT, I googled it just now to find the box art, and it turns out it got re-released on Steam a couple of months ago :v:
This one isn't obscure so much as just old. I only owned the second game in the series, but Magic Carpet 2 is the god damned bees knees. It's like liquid awesome poured into your eyesockets at boiling temperatures. Essentially you're a badass wizard with a magic carpet and a castle, fighting other bad ass wizards similarly equipped. You take over villages to generate mana which is retrieved by balloons, meaning vulnerable supply lines for both you and your enemies. You can upgrade your castle and learn new spells, which included terrain deforming volcanoes. This was Peter Molyneux at the height of his powers.

[t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e8/Otogi.png[/t][t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/eb/Otogi_2_-_Immortal_Warriors_Coverart.png[/t] Otogi: Myth of Demons and Otogi 2: Immortal Warriors Both released exclusively for Xbox, by From Software who are best known for Demon/Dark Souls. Has the enormous bosses, unforgiving difficulty and incredible creature design of a Souls game, but they were closer to a Ninja Gaiden or Dynasty Warriors in some ways with swarms of enemies and combos in the hundreds. Check them out on Youtube to see what's really going on. Screenshots don't do these games justice.
Found these last week. Being a Playstation kid was cool.
This is quite a hidden gem in your childhood. I'm pretty sure no-one has ever played this one.
Still one of my favorite games of all time.
MotoCross Mania 2. That was the shit.
Outlaws. I loved it.
Colony Wars: Vengeance was really cool when I was growing up. I loved the mission start launch tube thing. Also Rune
I had a shit ton of Playstation demo CDs, I used to play every demo there even while I had a ton of other games.
Oh, I had my share of unique PC games, too. Got this one out of pure random selection of games at the store (or something like that, I was 4 or 5 at the time) and found it to be one of the best games in my childhood. Me and my dad would sit and play this for hours. Of course, eventually my disk broke a few years later. I'd love for this to be on Steam or something again. That and the entire Army Men series. Loved the hell out of those, bought this thing called the War Chest when I was 7 or 8 that had every one of the games. However, I've never known anyone who also knows the series.
I fucking loved this game. A solid platformer with a ton of unique levels. [t]http://img.gamefaqs.net/box/2/9/8/10298_front.jpg[/t]

I wouldn't exactly call it hidden, but it was pretty rare.
Also Rune
Awesome game! Back when they used the unreal engine for everything.

I remember really liking this game.
I go back to this one every once in a while. It's pretty much Zelda II with smoother controls, less RPG elements and not as hard. It's a solid SNES title and I recommend people who are fans of Zelda II check it out.
Still one of my top 5 games, guess it's time to dust off the SNES.

It's a real shame this game never got a sequel, I think it if was remade in a newer engine some of the quirks and empty landscapes could be fixed and make it an even better game. I also really dig the soundtrack, same guy who did the songs for the Payday series.

[t]http://www.emuparadise.me/GCN/Covers/Cel%20Damage.jpg[/t] Played this with one of my friends all the time. It was great fun.
used to play multiplayer with my dad all the time and we had a blast
Isn't the Incredible Machine well-known though? That game is awesome.
