I'm still waiting for it to release in America. I usually ignore reviews and end up enjoying a game very much. I've absolutely loved Risen and Divinity II. The demo for Duke Nukem Forever was more fun every time I played it, so I'm hoping it'll be the same for the full game as I rarely play a game campaign more than once.
I thought it was okay, not as terrible as everyone says.
I don't know about you guys but it really wasn't that bad. I liked it, not the best but it was good.
I don't know why so many people are saying the game sucks, and I'm not even a Duke Nukem fan, but then again...

It was a mediocre FPS with some moderately witty one liners and almost nostalgic frantic blasting that was fun for a while, so yeah not the best but definitely not the worst game I've played recently.

I hated the demo and cancelled my pre-order, but I didn't expect RPS to be this harsh.

To be honest, the game would have at least a LITTLE bit of redeeming quality in it if it were available for a reasonable price. If I'm going to play a PS2-quality-level game, dammit I'm going to PAY for a PS2-quality-level game. No fancy fifty dollar 'new-age' blockbuster shit.

Look, the bottom line is that Duke Nukem is giving us the satisfaction many people have been wait for 12 fucking years. Sure the combat system isn't great, but who the fuck cares. Duke isn't suppose to be the best FPS you've ever seen, nor worst, it's suppose to be fun and hilarious. So stop bashing on Duke because it's "outdated" on characteristics, graphics, or it's stupid references. Just play the game for comedy's sake.
And I bet you $5 that when MW3 comes out, "PRAISE INFINITY WARD! PRAISE INFINITY WARD!"

Actually, at one point of time, it was the best FPS around as well as it being hilarious.
The entire rape scene was made to sound a lot more gruesome than it really was. If I remember right there was alien pod rape in Duke Nukem 3D too.

People need to stop forcefully lowering their standards whenever they have high hopes but low expectations for something. You can have more fun for less money, and you don't have to force yourself to ignore the things that disappoint you.
This kind of "Well it'll be okay if I force myself to like it" mentality seems to be increasingly common nowadays, especially in PC dominant communities like FP.

Duke Nukem Forever is a shit game that just tries to jerk wank the money out of every Duke Fan by stuffing it with self-masturbation of Duke Nukem's past whilst forgetting that it's supposed to be a goddamn game you're supposed to play and have fun with and not just watch and walk through whilst stuffing your eyes and ears with "HEY! HEY! YOU'RE PLAYING DUKE NUKEM! LOL!".
It had been in development for a very long time and people were very hyped up for it since it had been such a long wait but at days end its just a game. It's probably no worse than a lot of games people play but people set their expectations to high and got disappointed.

That too. But the main problem I see with DNF is something very simple.
They put too much focus into details. How the surroundings look and what to place in them. Same thing that happened to Portal 2. Sure, it's filled with glorious detail and tidbits all over the place, but the gameplay has been pushed to the side in order to focus on making it look as visually good as possible. Gotta add in that reference, gotta put in that pool table, gotta have that poster, gotta make that gym room, etc etc. Then by the end of the day when it's too late they notice they've put so much focus on the details that they forgot to care about the game itself.
The only thing that held Portal 2 up was that they had given a good though to how to develop the story and had good humor in it. The gameplay was dropped quite a few notches being way easier than Portal. Sure, this could be because we were already familar with Portal, but that's exactly why it needs to be harder. But there is also the fact that they tested all the maps with people and wanted to make as much as possible obvious for them so they didn't get stuck. Which is a BAD thing.
I fully agree with RPS
Take Duke out of the game, and what do you have? A mishmash of games that ultimately fails to please
