I'm kinda baffled, I've seen quite a lot of lizards in Poland, but never a single guy like that, at least not in my area (central Poland). [t]http://i.imgur.com/ByrRdqn.jpg[/t] Is this fella an amphibian, or just a funky reptile? [t]http://i.imgur.com/D1UASzA.jpg[/t] Orange belly with black spots. It might look like I'm squishing him, but I was really gentle. [t]http://i.imgur.com/LI8aHql.jpg[/t] Creepin' around, he never ran, just slowly crawled. [t]http://i.imgur.com/N8dMF8O.jpg[/t] It didn't have the texture of other lizards I've seen here. Little guy felt really squishy, like a frog. [t]http://i.imgur.com/BR5Oqrr.jpg[/t] I call him no booty cuz he ain't got no booty.
[del]Potentially a Frog?[/del] got no booty, got it.
Not a lizard, it's some sort of newt I suppose (aka a kind of salamander with dry warty skin), but fuck if I know anything more about polish amphibians. [editline]18th March 2014[/editline]
Potentially a Frog?
nO
Dude may be a newt? [editline]19th March 2014[/editline] After doing some googling it may be Triturus cristatus. If that's the case, I kinda wish I left him with me, they look like some sick Pokemon when they grow up. [editline]19th March 2014[/editline]
Potentially a Frog?
Dude, everyone knows frogs got massive booty. This dude got no booty, no game.
He is grown up. Also salamanders aren't gonna change near that much after they've metamorphosed. I think he might be Triturus vulgaris, but the only video I can find of it won't fucking load for me because fuck youtube. Also get on steam thxxx
yeah it's probably a frog.
that ain't no frog.. frogs don't have tails?
that ain't no frog.. frogs don't have tails?
Not exactly. There actually is a tailed frog. But idk why we're even discussing frogs in the first place. It looks nothing like a frog lol.
I think he might be Triturus vulgaris, but the only video I can find for it won't fucking load for me. Get on steam thxxx
Yup, looks like a female Triturus vulgaris, also known as a Smooth newt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smooth_newt [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b6/Teichmolch-triturus-vulgaris.jpg[/t] Also the male one looks fucking sweet
everything I can find point her to a Southern Dusky Salamander.
I'd be rather concerned if he was finding a south eastern united states salamander in the middle of poland tbh
it looks alot like some sort of taricha/western newt(though that is from calif. just pointing out similarities)
I'd be rather concerned if he was finding a south eastern united states salamander in the middle of poland tbh
okay, I didn't know his country. I was only going by what I've seen in my state.
okay, I didn't know his country. I was only going by what I've seen in my state.
Well he did say it in the first sentence but alright. Doesn't matter anymore tho, it's a Smooth Newt
I'd be rather concerned if he was finding a south eastern united states salamander in the middle of poland tbh
Some dude on reddit told me it may be a species of Fire belly newt, a genus of newts native to Japan. I was concerned. [editline]19th March 2014[/editline] I will post more pictures if I ever find a male one, they look really cool. A lot of frogs and lizards ends up in my basement in early spring, they fall in through the cole hatch like the dumb fucks they are. I would let them chill there but shit is dangerous when I move the coal around, frogs are not too bright and they get squished easily. I have to go there every few hours with a bucket, and catch all the frogs. I might take some pictures of these too, some of the toads are massive.
It looks so sexy. Like, "look at me bitches, I ain't got no ass!"
that's the species of maximus cutimus
Newt Gingrich
Its a newt dude, they're pretty common
One time I touched a lizard with an orange belly and it turned out to be poisonous. Whoops.
One time I touched a lizard with an orange belly and it turned out to be poisonous. Whoops.
Did you die? [editline]19th March 2014[/editline] Btw the only dude I found today was a boring frog, so I didn't take any pictures.
Did you die? [editline]19th March 2014[/editline] Btw the only dude I found today was a boring frog, so I didn't take any pictures.
No, it was Agent Smith who was responsible.
I may be new at this, but it's a newt. I'd tap it.
Take it to the vet?
Take it to the vet?
What, why?
Well, he/she studied animals maybe he could know the answer/know someone who does?
Well, he/she studied animals maybe he could know the answer/know someone who does?
I took pics and released it into the wild. I don't think a veterinarian would know much about amphibians, I would rather send some pics to a herpetologist, but it looks like we already found out what the species is.
She turned me into a newt!
