Just a quick question about how song copyright works. I am planning to use the song 'Ain't No Rest For The Wicked' by the band Cage The Elephant which was released in about 2008. Does anyone know if I would be able to use this in a Left 4 Dead 2 map without copyright infringement? I am not sure if the song would have to be copyrighted by the band, and if so if it ever was. Any help would be vastly appreciated.
This might seem a little paranoid, but my theory has always been better safe than sorry with this kind of thing, seing how many stupid little things can land a person in jail or with a hefty fine nowadays.
I'm pretty sure that as long as you credit it somewhere, you'll be fine, I could be wrong though.
I think as long as you don't try to make money using the song you will be fine.
Well, just gave the official UK Copyright Law document a read and it seems as long as I include proper credits somewhere it'll be fine. If anyone knows otherwise please say.
Like above, unless you're selling the map and you credit them you'll be fine.
Credit them and there shouldn't be any problem. Unless of course you sell the map, that's an entirely different story.
