Crysis 3's faces were good, but what really makes this one stand out superior is the animations of the face. You can make a face look pretty good, but if its animations suck, the whole thing sucks.

Well that's because it just blows the usual facial animation out of the water, and was the main selling point of the game.

la noire didn't have any face animations.
they just took video recordings and stuck it on the head and a 3d camera adjusted the head geometry as neccecarry

Doesn't matter how it was done, the faces in-game were "animated" and looked fantastic.

It looked good, but it was completely inflexible; every single second of animation had to have audio [I]and[/I] video recordings. Imagine if they wanted to do that for a game like Skyrim or Mass Effect? The logistics and overhead would be insane.
