New artist name - General - Facepunch Forum

Please post only serious options, I only have a day or two left to decide. I've been going by the alias of downshift, but I've took a 4 month break from releasing songs to improve my sound. Now that I've taken a break, and I have a remix being submitted, it's time for a new artist name that I will keep possibly forever. My current name is downshift, here's my [URL="http://soundcloud.com/theofficialdownshift"]soundcloud[/URL], only look at the newest ones, the rest are old. So my question is, can you guys help me with a new name?

No offense dude, but you have 8 soundcloud followers, all you're going to do by changing you name is confuse, and maybe even lose some of them. If you had a thousand, or even a hundred followers, I could understand why you might want a name change, to signify a new direction, but seeing as you don't, I don't think there's a problem with keeping the one you have.

I also plan on making a facebook and youtube channel, so a new name now is good.

I get that you want to hear other people's ideas, but it's much more satisfying coming up with the name yourself, because it's all your idea, it's more leggit.

Why are you asking US for a new name? I'd think that if you wanted to have a cool name as a music artist, you would come up with it yourself. If you can't even come up with some inspiration for a new name, how are you going to come up with some inspiration for your work?

And I "need" a new name soon, so I thought i would ask. I'll try my best in the next few days to think of something great.

I don't see the point in changing your name if you've already been releasing music as downshift. I agree with you that if you were to do it, now would be the best time, but I think it'd be best to keep going on as downshift so when you're further into your music "career" you'd still be known for your earlier stuff. They could even become forgotten gems. Eminem's Infinite gained a lot of popularity after he became a major label artist.
