No, I refuse.
Is this the Nintendo that released the N64 and the stuff before that? About time. That other Nintendo wasn't as good.
eh i don't like it. the screen on controller idea is pretty weak to be honest. why would i ever want to shift my eyes away from my tv? also i'm guessing not many third-party developers will utilize it. it will probably just show the scoreboard or something. also it looks really awkward to hold. you really want something more ergonomic when playing e.g. Arkham City for six continuous hours [editline]7th June 2011[/editline] aaand I have to say Nintendo did an absolutely awful job presenting this thing. I, along with many more, thought it was nothing else than a new Wii controller.
Gimmicky, to say the least. Wonder how games like Battlefield 3 will play.
What is Nintendo thinking?
touch screen is probably a gimmick that won't be utilized too much, otherwise this will probably be pretty good
The hell is wrong with that controller? Nintendo, I thought you said it wasn't going to be a gimmick.
Looks very uncomfortable, seems like Nintendo is forgetting how to appeal to anyone besides a casual gamer.
Back in my days a super nintendo, 2 controllers and a screen did the trick, didn't need none of that superficial bullshit! And I'm only 19 [editline]7th June 2011[/editline]
Looks very uncomfortable, seems like Nintendo is forgetting how to appeal to anyone besides a casual gamer.
So pretty much the majority you mean?

And shifting your eyes adds the fun to the Wii.
"The Wii made a fucking shit load of cash and so will this"
sad thing is that they are right
Nintendo, I am disappoint.
I predict that Nintendo will see how fucking uncomfortable this is and release a "Pro" style controller similar to Gamecube/XBox.
Actually looking at this, I could see a lot of possibilities with having a screen built into your controller. When playing Singleplayer games, you could use the controller screen to track statistics or maintain a permanent menu for upgrading your dudes if it were to be an RPG. Then when you want to play multiplayer games with your friends, you don't have to divide the screen for splitscreen play, as you could just have each individual screen on your controller. Then the article also said that it is also used for families with more than one person wanting to use the television at the same time. Where someone could still watch tv, while you play your normal games on the handheld completely fine. But on the other side, the controller looks like a pain to hold for a long time, as some users above have already said. The other thing is for the console to be able to be so capable to handle all these computations, it has got to be both bulky and expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if you would buy something the size of an engine block, and costing at least $500.
Just about every impression from any credible website has been positive on the controller http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/07/nintendo-wii-u-controller-first-hands-on/ http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2011/06/nintendo-controller-hands-on/ Also it seems nearly everyone in here skipped any tech demo showed. The console absolutely EATS the PS3 and the 360(especially if the rumored proccessor turns out to be the real deal).
So, if someone happens to break a controller, it's going to cost half of the system?
So how are the graphics? I did hear that it's supposed to be more akin to a PC in terms of graphical power. And the tablet, actually does have me intrigued. Thinking about it, it's kind of like Nintendo is trying to make their console more like a PC overall. EDIT: HOLY SHIT WHAT THIS IS AWESOME. WATCH IT NOW. YOU MUST. IT'S TRUE! IT'S TRUE! It really is that powerful!
I'm excited about the Wii U Nintendo just did a piss poor job presenting it during the conference

I don't know why anyone would think that considering the Wii's been far more successful than the Xbox 360 or PS3
The thing is, they are going slightly more hardcore, especially with the raw power of the system. And the controller could have a LOT of uses(real time inventory managment, zoom functions. Fuck it, just read the articles to get an idea). It's down to the developers to deliver the game though... Let's hope it works out this time, the wii wasnt that bad, it was the fact that nobody really cared about it.
it looks chubby [sp]like me[/sp]
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE. All the concept art made the controller look decent and you gave us THIS?! WHY.
I think it looks pretty cool, but the controller is going to be so expensive that no one is going to be able to afford more than one along with the console.
Considering the controllers are wireless, I'm guessing they are going to have enough room to plug in old Gamecube controllers.
Now that's just silly. I hate to know how much one of those controllers costs. You want to play with a friend on the same console? That’ll be 200+ dollars. What the hell is with today's consoles and gimmics? Jeez.
Its clear from this thread that Nintendo aren't getting all the hardcore on board, be in PC or console gamers. By getting the likes of Battlefield 3 its going to do much better than the Wii did for the hardcore.
I got it, this is how they got the name for it. Wii wUd like to play.
I scrolled down because the article wasn't loading, scrolled back up, and actually said out loud, "Oh, what the fuck."
