The lack of vertical redstone makes this whole thing useless.
The lack of vertical redstone makes this whole thing useless.
Indeed. Why can't they just add the option to mix redstone and slime to make it sticky.
The lack of vertical redstone makes this whole thing useless.
You can (as of a while ago, not sure if it still applies) send signals up by placing glowstone over your wire, and then a wire on top of it. Though as far as I know, the only way to send a signal up ONE level is via a ramp (block). Still, the whole thing is convoluted . [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] The entirety of redstone could be fixed by making a new GUI for circuitry that fit into a single box.
The lack of vertical redstone makes this whole thing useless.
How do we know it won't have that?
One idea I've wanted for a good time, without going overkill with shit like an entire computer in a single block, is red-stone currents being able to travel straight up a fence post or new block that is a red-stone fencepost. it could make it possible to create perhaps a post with a red-stone lamp on top that can be easily toggled.
See: how wiremod fixed gmod I'm not sethbling, but I doubt anyone who plays with redstone would ever want to condense everything into redstone wire and a programmable box
I am almost entirely against the idea of things like an entire computer in a single block, it's just not needed.
See: how wiremod fixed gmod I'm not sethbling, but I doubt anyone who plays with redstone would ever want to condense everything into redstone wire and a programmable box
Incidentally, I'm convinced that Check Em is the best addon I've seen in Gmod since Gravity Hull Designator.
See: how wiremod fixed gmod I'm not sethbling, but I doubt anyone who plays with redstone would ever want to condense everything into redstone wire and a programmable box
It kinda ruins the point/feeling, like E2 does with Wire. Instead of people spending time animated and building contraptions with gates and wires all over they join a server and stand doing nothing for an hour while they work on an E2 chip before clicking the wire tool a few times and watching it work, a lot of people dont bother looking at the chat or anything while doing it as well. Sometimes I have joined sandbox servers with everyone working on E2 stuff and you may aswell be playing by yourself. *EDIT* Not saying its a bad thing altogether, just I think a system like that wouldn't sit very well in minecraft.
Jens once stateds in an interview that he said that he felt more and more cool features should be left up to mods. I think the Minecraft integrated circuit board is one of those things best left up to mods.
Still not furniture. Just empty castles with complex redstone doors.
One big furniture update and you got me back into playing this game. Build a pretty nice and big house once but i got kinda tired of placing a billion bookshelves and paintings all over the place
One big furniture update and you got me back into playing this game. Build a pretty nice and big house once but i got kinda tired of placing a billion bookshelves and paintings all over the place
eh well you can make tables, sofas, plants, a bar, furnaces to fill up the majority. Still, it needs furniture that you can right-click and use
I'm more interested in the concept of world generation and adventuring. Imagine if combat didn't suck and there were Skyrim style random quests villagers give with unique rewards, or the concept of villages belonging to a country with a capital. Imagine if the world generator had superflat style customization options for almost completely customiziable world generation, with user defined massive mountains and imposing chasms in the earth, with the ability to share presets like you do with seeds. Again, maybe this is also best left to mods.
So, I've been out of the loop when it comes to Minecraft for a while, have they added the Modding API yet?
this game is still going?
I wonder what half of it will be cut out for a 'future update'. Also, surely this will make it harder to actually use red stone outside the context of building unnaturally complex contraptions? We will yet again have to hide more redstone components for the same contraption.
Also I find myself wondering, would a circuit board really work as Redstone operates as of right now? Currently, half of Redstone is exploiting bugs in the physics engine with pistons and block update switches and things of that nature. Would we really see much of an improvement with the circuit board blocks? Even if I made, for example, a piston door, and I could get most of the timing done in one block, I would still require physical space to connect the pistons and actually store the blocks. The space saved might be marginal at best and virtually nothing at worst. [editline]26th November 2012[/editline] I mean it would definitely help those who make literal redstone computers but thats a rather niche thing.

And no, if they've taken any measures at all to keep past redstone stuff working (they have), then it will continue to be possible to use any previous methods of making things work.
So, I've been out of the loop when it comes to Minecraft for a while, have they added the Modding API yet?
no. they've got 2 developers working working on the API full time which means rewriting large parts of minecraft(like the rendering engine) so it doesn't suck a mod API is difficult with a sane code base, i can't imagine having to do this for minecraft
Why do they even add hard to obtain blocks to make redstone out of do they honestly think people are going to go into the nether and hunt for an item to craft capacitors with? if you need capacitors and other parts for your stuff then it's probably big enough to make gathering materials a massive pain in the ass
I don't understand why these updates are so few and far between. None of those features sound difficult to implement, these updates are so sporadic and so featureless. This game is junk.
hey minecraft devs less shit for the "we make PCs in minecraft" spergs more variety into the ground (minecraft) and environment and into survival in the survival gamemode

While there have been updates, I can't get into redstone because you have to bend over backwards to get the placement working because you cant place redstone on walls. And there haven't been very much content updates outside of a few reskinned blocks and some decorations. We need something new. CTF mode would probably get me back into it, and that's been on the buy page since like forever.

The shit people go though for their red stone creations baffles me. Anything past an on-off circuit ends up requiring an obnoxious amount of time and effort to get right.
CTF Mode with shitty movement and combat? No thanks.
There would obviously have to be some reworkings.
