So we can expect another sludge of crap that drags on for several years after its lifespan is up?
Where the fuck did this guy get "Gen 3" from?
Says the company that shuts down game servers and online support, some just a year old, Every. Year.
I don't understand Electronic Arts business strategies. They're constantly making people hate them, won't this slowly kill their consumer base(s)?
Yay.....:(

As with most thing, the haters, complainers etc are just a small batch of all their users. Just like with MS and the Xbox One. I'm pretty confident that they don't give a shit about the complainers.
We all know people will continue buying EA games, Xbox one and the new games. What makes me so sure? Well, I'm one of those.

no they're making a small, very vocal hardcore gaming community hate them - the rest of the consumer base doesn't mind
there'll still be a huge market for Xbox 360 and PS3 after the next gen console's come out.
Do you guys not know anything about making money?
fifa 13 was also released on the PS2 last year, of course they're gonna support the older consoles with sports games for years to come.

Madden 25 for NES and Master system confirmed.
Thats okay, my PS2 slim was still useful up until 2010.
holy shit, are you all seriously jumping on the "hurr fuck EA" bandwagon even when they announce things that are good?
sure, they may shut down servers for some games after a few years, but there's nothing wrong with them supporting the current gen of consoles. some people dont want to/cannot afford to make the transition

but if it were Valve saying this, you'd all be worshiping gabe's dick

Shutting down servers for games with 20-100 playerbases isn't a bad thing.

To be fair, Valve would have made it for next and current gen no matter what
What are you all complaining about? I'm seriously confused. "Battlefield 4 is not only coming out on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but will also appear on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3". That's pretty good seeing as I don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars to play the next fucking Battlefield. They're catering to two audiences. That's how you make money.

And thats the thing. The much larger consumer base can actually willingly buy and enjoy a product without worrying about the company doing things that don't affect them. If a company gets shut down, they can just go "oh whatever that sucks" and move on instead of droning on about how big bad publishers ruin everything and how things that are good are a ploy to get money and grrrrrrrrr. The average dumb consumer who doesn't think about the products they buy and support evil companies are better people than the small amount of people who hate EA with a burning passion.
Also, I assume Gen 3 means the 3rd generation of 3D non-portable consoles.
Gen 1 being the PS1, N64, Saturn, 3DO, and Jaguar
Gen 2 being the Xbox, PS2, GameCube, and Dreamcast
Gen 3 being the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii
Gen 4 being the Xbox One, PS4, and WiiU
-snip-

That's, sadly, also the reason "voting with your wallet" doesn't work. There are too many people who just buy the shiny new thing on TV for the knowledgeable minority to make a real difference. At least when it comes to the larger publishers.
