acer started doing that a few years ago when 2-in-1s started becoming a thing with the launch of windows 8

the whole idea was that you could bring the touch screen right up in front of you, as opposed to having to reach out over the trackpad that you wouldn't be using anyway

it didn't work then either but I guess they liked the idea? idk
