Pretty much the specs of the 360, well, kind of.
Well it's not like we're gonna be running it at 120fps with full AO and 16xFSAA or anything. Dat 30fps cap...
Im pretty sure the community can make a fix around that. There has been quite a few PC games prevously seen as "Unmoddable", and they end up getting modded. Besides, something to sort out the 30 FPS cap seems easy enough for someone with a bit of modding experiance, surely?
According to this, it runs at 1080p at 60 FPS. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1887710#r34645852 Take what you will from this.
You guys realize the resolution cap they were talking about was only for the textures, you can set the actual res to anything.
I have heard that the port will only have 30 fps and it will have a low resolution. If they could fix these problems somehow, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But, I might buy it anyway.
the fps cap is because of how the engine works. it's not something they can just remove without a massive overhaul to how it all works
I couldn't play Fable 3 because of the 30fps cap so if this is the same then I won't be picking it up.
I couldn't play Fable 3 because of the 30fps cap so if this is the same then I won't be picking it up.
Are you seriously that picky? I don't believe that this cap is as bad as people are making it out to be. I played through L.A. Noire and Fable III perfectly fine. Yes, the cap sucks a bit, but that is no reason to stop you from picking up a game.
Can anyone explain what the point of a FPS cap is? I really don't get it (don't understand why it's on consoles either)...
Can anyone explain what the point of a FPS cap is? I really don't get it (don't understand why it's on consoles either)...
i don't really remember the technical details but a lot of times(particularly with console games, where hardware is standardized) the engine is designed in such a way that FPS going over the cap can mess with certain systems in place that are tied to the framerate the game runs at basically simply removing the cap will break a lot of things
Wow, a brand new game and it doesn't even use DX10. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline] my pc from 05 has those specs.
Wow, a brand new game and it doesn't even use DX10. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline] my pc from 05 has those specs.
gee, who would have thought that a port of a console game by a developer with a low budget for the port and very little experience with the PC wouldn't be pushing our computers??
i don't really remember the technical details but a lot of times(particularly with console games, where hardware is standardized) the engine is designed in such a way that FPS going over the cap can mess with certain systems in place that are tied to the framerate the game runs at basically simply removing the cap will break a lot of things
tl;dr if you go over the set limit in most console games it will go really fucking fast
tl;dr if you go over the set limit in most console games it will go really fucking fast
Other things can break too. It's dependent on the game but in can result in anything from borked animations to timing problems with scripts.
Can anyone explain what the point of a FPS cap is? Would be in slow motion if they went under 60 FPS, or in super speed if they went above. For instance the game would run at 58%(I didn't do the math.) speed if you were running at 35 fps making it pretty much unplayable.
That may be true and I honestly don't think I'll mind the cap, but I bet someone will release a .dll to unlock framerate and it will work fine, if not with just a few tiny quirks.
or it'll be fucked up and go into 300% superspeed with 90 fps.
Some people get eye problems from really low frame rates.
30fps isn't "really low."
Some people get eye problems from really low frame rates.
So they're unable to watch films?
tl;dr if you go over the set limit in most console games it will go really fucking fast
int goes float +1 becomes +timescale (I know, I know, it introduces new bugs, new testing, and might take some time depending on how well was the engine coded, but anyone with expertise gets what I mean)
I hate people who think 30fps isn't playable. Its playable on consoles at that framerate so why wouldn't it be on pc? This is a great game. You should not let a cap scare you away from purchasing it. [editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
Some people get eye problems from really low frame rates.
You're ridiculous.
30fps isn't "really low."
It isn't eye damaging low(if any framerate is), but when you've played most of your games at 60-120fps, watching a 30fps game is an eyesore.
It isn't eye damaging low, but when you've played most of your games at 60-120fps, watching a 30fps game is an eyesore.
You quickly adapt to it. [editline]22nd June 2012[/editline] I never noticed the 30FPS cap in LA Noire, I only know of it because of whiny Facepunchers :v:

[editline]21st June 2012[/editline] You're ridiculous.
30 FPS is playable but the main issue is that you're inches away from your screen instead of feet.
Watching films at 30fps feels different to playing a game at 30fps, I can't describe why, I've just never been able to play games comfortably at anything lower than 40fps
Not sure if its really worth getting, I played like 10 mins of this on PS3, and I've seen some YouTube gameplay etc, but I'm really not sure if this is really worth full price for me to play every now and again...
Good controls are more important than the 30 fps cap. If they fuck up the PC controls for this game it'll be ruined.
30 fps is fine for me
30 FPS is playable but the main issue is that you're inches away from your screen instead of feet.
Is it so hard to sit back a bit?
