Definitely a good move. We desperately need competent ICT teachers, right now most of them only know how to use office and do most of the stuff from a textbook, the rate at which technology is changing and kids are learning it means they are wildly outdated.
I would do this. Only if I was a fucking graduate.
Unlike what most people tell me about their ICT teachers; mine is and always has been fantastic, and literate. But more teachers like this is not a bad thing.
The students in the computer classes at my school just play CS in class, and the teacher's none the wiser
My computer science teacher teaches 5 different subjects a day, Computer Science, Business Math, Business Law, Accounting, and Marketing.
Maybe kids will get a decent computer use education now, so far most of the teachers in the lower-grade IT only know how to use MS Office.
I remember once getting into an argument with my IT teacher about whether or not hard drives were magnetic. She maintained that all new ones were optical. She was also the head of department. Yeah in short this sounds like a good idea

I think I just found out what my future career is gonna be.
Currently studying a Computing degree (which is basically computer science), with aims of going into teaching. ;D I like this.
