In other news, water is wet, and the sun is hot.
Subsciption based games are a thing of the past. The only reason WoW continues is because so many people invested so much time in it years ago. It's why their sub numbers have been dropping instead of climbing for a while now, nobody really wants to pay for a Subscription, and near full box price for expansions. People do, but no one really wants to. The only other Subscription based MMO that's working right now, really well, and not slowly dying is EvE, and that's only because expansions are always at no extra charge, AND you have the option to use in-game currency to fund your sub
Guild Wars, and now Guild wars 2 especially, has shown that you can make a great game, you can have smooth launches, and you can keep servers, without a sub

I wouldn't say GW2 had a smooth launch. They just had a major security issue, and it is currently impossible to retrieve a forgotten password or reset it not logged in.

Because that isn't an issue with them but people not thinking about what they are doing.
I don't mind subscriptions, means I know what I'm getting and don't need to do anything extra regarding a cash shop for more content (LotRO for example).
The problem is Tera is a bad game. An MMO with such extreme RNG that punishes players will not survive when released today and that's only one bad thing about the game.
Then again. Unsure what people were thinking, it already failed in Korea.

No, I am referring to the fact that they made account recovery extremely difficult, to the point you have to file a ticket to change your password.
