• Can I dual monitor two different sized monitors?

I bought an Ati HD 5870 and I'm planning on ordering a new 23" LCD monitor. What I would like to do is play my video games on monitor 1 (23" 1920x1080 recommended resolution) and have monitor 2 (21" 1680x1050 recommended resolution) connected to the right so I can browse the internet and play games at the same time. I need another monitor open at all times because I trade stocks and I don't want to be tabbing back and forth all the time. Also I want to put my old monitor to good use. So is this possible?

Yea, you have to play your games windowed though.
I do. and I don't have to play anything windowed
What happens to the other screen? And yes op.
Aw kickass thanks guys. So I simply connect both monitors to the card, and set up which monitor is 1 and 2 in the display options correct?

Yes. It's very simple. I recommend you get UltraMon if you're running on Windows to get some multi-monitor utilities.

Just a question, but how do you switch where your cursor is?
move it across the screen? [editline]09:20PM[/editline] it's like running it into the side of the screen, but then it appears on the other monitor.
Common myth - You have to play in windowed mode. No, you dont. But its usually more efficient to play windowed, so you can swtich to the other screen without loosing the render device in game (screen flashing and long re-load time).

Once you start using a dual-monitor system, you start to multitask a helluva lot more. It's much much more easier to have games windowed , but not always. It all depends on personal style and preference.

I was actually planning to get a third monitor, but other things came up. (new headset and such) Is there anyway to make games run windowed, but still have it look exactly like full screen?
Is there anyway to make games run windowed, but still have it look exactly like full screen?
Yeah, set the game to your screen's native resolution, and simply maximize the window.
For source games add this to the launch options -
-noborder -width 1650 -height 1050
Replace w/h with your desktop res.
